One interesting thing was in St. Louis I was seeing a bunch of dead armadillo's along the road. Never seen those in the mid latitudes. Is this something new?

And lots of tools alongside the road. Must be rich folks that leave them on trailers to fall off. I'm too old and lazy to pull over and walk back to pick them up. Besides, I don't need more implements of work.

Bought a book - $60 plus. "The History of Chaffee CountY". I'll never get it read, but I'll try pretty hard. Gotta clear all the stuff off the dining room table. Its as big as a phone book. Guess you've got to be into the mountains to understand.

Ah, I bet you were within a half mile of my house at one point...That is if you went to the Jeep thing in Colorado you go to every year.

History of Chaffee county. Didn't think they had enough history to fill a phone book sized book.

Was living in the area from 2000-2005. Recall starting to see them SW of town say 60 miles or so. Seemed like they were migrating north.

Mile-Hi puts a jeep thing on every year. But they move around the state so you don't get tired of one region. This year it was in Buney, pronouned "Buney". No Bueno as in Mexican. It was there back in 1986. The politically correct back then struggled with how to pronounce it. At supper in town one of them asked the waitress "where are we". So she very calmly said "P I Z Z A H U T". The town has gone upscale over the decades. The mountains are still sort of the same. Only weathered.

We went to Baldwin lake back in 2007. Not really to the lake, but to a mine there. No idea what they mined and neither did the local rock shop owner. But the mine backs on Grizzley Lake, which had gold. Now, 12 years later, the remains of the mine are splatted into the mountain. They had a harsh winter.

Yes, I look at tools along the road. Here, there, whereever. Since my garage filled, I stopped picking them up.

Armadillos showed up around 10 years ago. I heard tonight they have pushed north into Iowa. Wish the bears and hogs ate the damn things.

I don't know if it can compete with St Louis but if you ever find yourself in Tennessee be sure to check out our shoes and ladders on the roadside.

Rburg, I used to live in Texas. The armadillos followed me back. Sorry.
But they don't cause as much trouble as the raccoons.

They dig holes here. I yell at them to get off my lawn. They just look at me and then keep doing their armadillo stuff.

I just came back from Missouri and noticed a lot of dillos too. I also saw quite a few dead coyotes along the road.

On my holiday I drove through Montana and all I saw was skunks on the roads.

Tools are the hot ticket. I just saw a phillips head screwdriver today here at home. On vacation my wife was driving and I saw a large, maybe 3/4" combination wrench. She wouldn't stop.

I saw a very large bolt cutter and almost cried. Same reaction from the wife. It was probably 36". I've already got one.

Hammers galore. Gawd I miss them. Of course I have a collection of them. I'm a hoarder.

No saws. A fair number of pliers. Let your wife drive sometime. Looking for tools takes your mind off the idea you're about to die.
