This is why I drive slow and careful.

If you don't have a dashcam yet, they are stupid cheap.

I liked the fact that the dad seemed to kneel down and try and teach the kid rather than lighting him up like I've seem so many other people do. I gotta get a dashcam for my truck.

Good all the way around. No one could EVER accuse you of driving too fast. And that dad did a great job, too.

You mind telling use about your dash cam? I'm thinking of getting one.

I would have crawled down through there too. Too many opportunities for backing into you or texting pedestrians.

I have one boy that was a darter. You had to have a crazy grip on his hand or he would take off.
Once I thought for sure he was a goner. We were in the parking lot of a local BBQ joint on the corner of two 55 mph roads. I had the baby in one of those car seat carrier things and was holding his hand with the other, I popped the door to the mini van and he broke for the van so I thought just prior to the van he cuts right towards the 55 mph road with a truck coming probably doing 65.
Only thing I could do was swing the baby carrier and knock him over into the parking lot I knocked him off his feet and a good 5 or 6 feet into the parking lot. I know it hurt him pretty solid but I had no other choice or he certainly would be dead.

Garmin DriveAssist 50 It's a GPS with dash cam built in. It records in 1 minute clips and I have a 32 gig chip that holds around 8 hours before it loops.

Yes. I guess the lat and long are accurate. Big Grin

We are going to the burger place after scoping out the amphitheater for a good spot when Little River Band comes next month. It's going to be a FREE concert!

Just this past Monday I was coming back from food shopping.
I always drive slow through my development because we have a lot of kids who like to run out in the street.
As I was driving I watched a basketball roll into the street and stopped waiting for a kid to come running out with out looking.
After seeing no one around to retrieve the ball I drove as slow as I could past the ball in the street.

In our neighborhood there was a kid that would sit at the top of his driveway on a Big Wheel.
It had a slope to it.
He would wait till someone was coming down the road and would roll into the street.
This started before we moved into the neighborhood. We were told people called the police and talked to his father about it but the father could careless.
We would have to warn friends and family who would visit to watch for this kid and what house it was.
After about a month or so after we moved in they moved out.

A kid in my neighborhood, maybe six years old, would hide behind a parked car and then jump out into the street when a car came along. He thought it was great fun.

I stopped, got out of my car, and chased him. He ran into a house. I rang the bell, his mother came to the door and was rather hostile because I had chased her son, until I explained to her what the kid had been doing. Her demeanor changed, she thanked me, and in front of me she told the kid that if he ever did that again he would receive a spanking that he would remember for the rest of his life. I never had the problem again.

Got this one 20% off on Prime Day. So far so good.

On Yom Kippur 1978 in NYC, I was that kid. Playing in the street in front of the Synagogue. I don't see the Checker Marathon cab, he doesn't see me till the last minute. He slows down enough to hit me & throw me about 15 feet. Thank God I just got scrapes & bruises. My parents witnessed it and understandably freaked out. Lesson learned.
