Bendable, do you have wifi signal in the garage or at the front of the garage.

MyQ has their garage camera on sale, all you need is their app and a wifi signal, plug n play and it's $25.

If your wifi does reach the garage you can view it on the phone from anywhere. It has a wide angle lens, 1080P two way audio, detects motion...

With no wi-fi in the garage, looks like a baby monitor may be the best, cost effective option for your needs. They can have a 1000' working distance, with plug in camera and rechargeable battery for the monitor unit. The unknown is if they can operate in freezing temps.

I am behind the times and I need to install security cameras at my house.

The options I received from my security company were really expensive. They also suggested that I look at Costco cameras, and they would install for me, and charge me labor only. I've looked briefly, but I really wanted some other recommendations- I knew that I could get great advice here.

I echo others regarding Wyze, I purchased a pair of the Battery Cam Pro units, $89 each, and also bought a couple of 256g micro SD cards for them. No wires/cables, no base station, nothing but the cameras and a smartphone or tablet (I use a 3 year old Samsung tablet since I do not own a smartphone anymore). I bought the cams a month ago and they still have 75-80% battery life on them, they are supposed to last 4-6 months on a charge. Very easy to install (drill three screw holes to mount the base plate) and setup using the free Wyze app. I have them set to record "events" locally on the sd card- 12 seconds of movement the camera detects, I have not seen a need for continuous recording yet, since for us, they are primarily for when we are away from home. I have none of the subscription plans, saw no need for now. Works great to see live monitoring.

I am considering this
Amazon.com: HelloBaby No WiFi Baby Monitor 5" Screen 30-Hour Battery Pan-Tilt-Zoom Video Upgrade with Camera and Audio, Night Vision, VOX, 2-Way Talk, 8 Lullabies and 1000ft Range, HB6550 : Baby https://share.google/maPiCS2Pm2vm5xdtU

I will almost never use the talk/listen feature.

Or the pan/tilt feature.

Would I be able to turn off the camera from the controller to greatly extend battery life ,?

I asked Rufus, Amazon’s AI:

“The baby monitor system includes a battery-operated 5-inch screen and a plug-in baby camera.”

“Yes, the screen of this baby monitor can be turned off when not in use.”

Thanks much, this might work fine.

I did not know there was a Rufus.
I kinda have a hard time believing that the signals will penetrate my floor and the first floor apts floor.

Even though it's only 18 ft. Away.
