Yes, it's hard to follow and the title of the video is quite misleading, but I dig the rap, the rhythm, the simpatico dontcha know.

You don't have to agree with what's being said, but here at the Five Spot Cafe we dig the cats who strut. It may be pretentious but the scene's not contentious.

To wit, two wits, not twits:

"The soul is always deeper than the color you are.." Aight, Doc. I can dig it.

Thanks for posting this. Nice to see a couple of smart people talking about things political without the vitriol.

I cannot listen to that cat. Something about him makes it impossible to listen to him. I am sure he makes valid arguments. But it is just a not go for me.

In terms of politics, I think there is little that Dr. West and I might agree upon, but I'd love to sit down and have dinner with him.

And even though I think Russell Brand sometimes gets tangled up when trying to express his thoughts because he, like me, tries sometimes to convey a bit too much detail, it's still apparent that he possesses a quick mind. He's no dummy. His Wiki page describes hm as "loquacious" and I'd say that's on the money.

It's not just that he appears to be a true moderate; it's also that I believe he really is interested in the opinions of others unless they're whackos, like the "woke" and the zealots of any political stripe. He's quite the pragmatist, and he reaches more people than CNN, and that is no exaggeration.

Then, you do not share my love for the rhythm of the language and the eloquence of the written and the the spoken word.

That conversation was an improvised jazz riff.

Hmm…

Seemed like a couple of grown ups talking about stuff and not trying to hate each other.

I remember stuff like that. Seems to have more or less gone away about a couple decades ago.

I watched it when it first got posted...it's pretty amazing to watch two intellects dance and not in single combat. The jazz reference is spot on.

Russel has quickly become one of the podcasts that I can sit through in agreement.

I looked down at him at first thinking he was some ultra liberal hippy from my impressions of his comedy and movies but I was wrong.

He is middle of the road and I can respect that.

That was a very refreshing, stimulating and supremely intellectual conversation. Unexpectedly so.

Thanks for posting it!

A distinction that becomes less significant with each passing day. CNN met him some time ago on their way down to toilet.

Such a shame. Big Grin
