We added a 4 inch AprilAire to the house a year ago or so, just replaced the filter and let it go a year per the installers recommendation, having done that and seen how much it accumulated over the year think we'll go 6 months at least check at 6 to see how it's doing.
Bought mine on BezosWorld.com $56, if you find a source for better pricine please post it up. So far Bezos was as good as anyone else, Lowes and Home Desperate were significantly more.

Had to replace ours late last summer. One the builder had put in x12 years ago. Single Speed motor zoned into x2 zones. Thing had to run like I was beating it to keep up.
Congrats on the new one. You'll enjoy it. Probably way more efficient than the old one.

Para, I know you were asking about standalone humidifiers a few weeks ago. I'd highly recommend getting a whole-home humidifier put on the new system, like an Aprilaire.
They aren't all that much and you'll never have to fill a standalone humidifier again. We got one and it's been great for the winters.

You'll be happy with them. We have two of the newer Amanas, slightly less fancy than yours. About 18 months in, one of the outdoor units began icing up badly. We called and our service had a new unit out to us, installed and running within 4 hours, all under warranty.

We were less than 6 months into our "yearly" 4" or 5" filter and I noticed the heater was just not doing much when we had a particularly cold Iowa day. I pulled the filter and the furnace said "DAMN YOU SCUBA STEVE!" Having 3 cats and 3 kids, it needs to get changed just as often as the old ones. It was REALLY holding back alot of airflow. Instantaneous air flow success.
The smart buy, though, is the six pack. 17.48 per versus 22.54 (not including tax). There's no doubt that these filters are going to get more expensive, like everything else. A six pack will bring us into the next decade.
Anyway, the system is in, all went smoothly, no "black mold" surprises or rotten wood in the attic.
The installer was a man with thirty years experience in HVAC. The rep threw in one of those attic things with the zipper that seals the attic door. He didn't have one for the install on Thursday, probably get it installed early next week.

The only glitch we had was that the VIVE thermostat turned out to be a lemon. AC worked fine with it, ut when we tried to run the heat, all it did was cause the system to blow cold air.
Our HVAC guy upgraded us to a Honeywell T6 PRO thermostat. I ended up with wireless connectivity after all. I've got an app on my phone, don't even have to get out of bed to adjust the temp or turn the unit off or on.
They just finished replacing the thermostat and installing the attic bag.
Air conditioning is the greatest invention since electricity.

Glad it all came together well. Hopefully the new system will last as well as the predecessor did. I've always lived in all electric houses, so I've never had central air. Not sure I'd know what to d with myself if it was actually markedly cooler inside my house than it was outside.

I know that your preference was for a non-WiFi thermostat but you may find, as we have, that a WiFi enabled thermostat is convenient and offers some peace of mind when away from home knowing that your HVAC is functioning properly.
When we do leave the house for a few days or longer we may adjust the thermostat a degree or two accordingly but then adjust it back to our ‘comfort’ temp before we arrive home.
The T9 Pro on our Amana system (offered as an ‘upgrade’ for a nominal amount of money) has been trouble-free and reliable.
It did ‘loose’ the WiFi connection two or three times in the few years that we have had it and a ‘reboot’ consisted of pulling the face-plate off and putting it back on.
In all of the years that our HVAC company has been installing WiFi thermostats they never had a customer report that their thermostat was ‘hacked’ or anything beyond that.
