Without looking I still believe the price of the P7 is still good even w/ inflation. That is compared to some of the inflated prices we have seen. Never mind. Just looked up the value of the 1982 dollar just for a baseline. The price of the P7 is in the ballpark of the going rate these days.

I had a supervisor in the Air Force that bought quite a few HK’s pre 86. He had some nice stuff that he probably still owns.

One of the guys I work with has a mint HK91 with accessory pack that he bought while stationed in Germany in the 80s.

Said all his squadmates bought stereos and Walkmans, while he was buying guns. He did way better in the long run.

I owned a Benelli 121-A1 for a spell; it had some interesting qualities for its time such as an inertia based recoil system that allowed the reliable functioning with pretty much any 12 gauge load from mild to wild. It also had a canted stock instead of a straight stock in line with the rest of the gun. It’s hard to describe but shouldering it was easy and intuitive.

The pricing of P7s is really a mystery to me as they were never rare and yet it's like every seller who doesn't sell as an auction listing sets them at $4k+ and sits on them for months/years on gunbroker. Did something happen between German police turn-ins flooding the market in the late 2000s and now that justified a 10X increase in prices?

In 1985 I believe the MSRP for an HK 91 was $640. I may still have the brochure somewhere.

Thanks,

Speaking of HK's from back in the 80's, I've got a Heckler & Koch SL7 I'm rather fond of! Wink

For those not familiar...

"Assault rifle" Roll Eyes

I see mistakes on H&K catalogs were evident even back then.

It happens to the best of us. Wink

I would love a SL7. I bought my first HK 91 when I was 15. My father went with me to buy it from a sheriff deputy. Paid $500 in the box with bipod, ten mags, factory brass catcher.

The SL series of rifles are so cool in my opinion. You can see the G43 and K98 hints in those rifles.
