Home Depot has a sale going on with nice financing on their card with free delivery.

Our old washer is 6+ years old and bought second hand. Doesn't wash as well as we'd like it to. It's the old style with the agitator in the middle. There are two settings: color or whites. You get 3 water levels with 3 temperature settings. It doesn't always drain and is very picky with being balanced right. Dryer was bought second hand in 2014. Not sure how old it was then but it still dries good enough but if we were going to get a washer, figured might as well get the matching dryer since our neighbor is looking for a dryer because hers is on its last legs.

Wanted to get some opinions on these sets:

GE set which gets pretty good reviews:

Washer: https://www.homedepot.com/p/GE...TW680BSJWS/206355465

Dryer: https://www.homedepot.com/p/GE...TD65EBSJWS/206355476

LG set which seems relatively new:

Washer: https://www.homedepot.com/p/LG...e-WT7100CW/304160991

Dryer: https://www.homedepot.com/p/LG...e-DLE7100W/304171304

Maytag set with a lot of reviews:

Washer: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Ma...-MVWB835DW/205875252

Any experience or opinions on these would be greatly appreciated.

From a wise appliance guy that used to hang with us here. Stay far away from LG and Samsung as parts are hard to come by.

He suggested to us Maytag or Whilpool (same company) we went with the Whirlpool and it has done us pretty good.

I’m running a set of LG Tromms that I bought in 2005 until this day. Finally this year a part went bad. It was the cold water inlet valve. Part was cheap, readily available on the internet so I had it in my hands with two days. Took me less than half an hour to change it out. Washer started working again. The LG’s may be the best appliance buy I have ever done. When my set goes TU, I’ll be buying another set of them. 13 years and counting. They are both front loaders with stainless steel tubs. They use very little water and my clothes last so much longer. I’ve got jeans and shirts that still look outstanding that are just as old as the washer dryer set. I wouldn’t buy anything else.

Recently purchased This Maytag. So far I love it. Full tub of water, easy controls, no digital display, five year parts and labor warranty. It gets my clothes way cleaner than the stupid HE machines that use one cup of water per load to slosh soap around your clothes, but never get them clean. Laundry smells better coming out than it did with previous machine. Takes way less time. Quiet. Awesome.

Only disadvantage so far is it's smaller than old one, but it still will was queen size comforter.

I was in the same place you are exactly one year ago and was looking at the same options...After much research and some great advice.feedback from Appliance Brad, I went with the Maytag and have been very happy.

Out house consists of 3 humans and 4 dogs with one human being a teenage girl...this machine gets used and used well and has always done a great job

One strong suggestion; either buy (if you can afford them) the 18" stands with storage underneath or make (if you has the skillz) a stand out of some 4x4 and 3/4" plywood (neatly painted, stained, or otherwise covered).

You'll love it the first time you do a load of laundry. Wink

Just an additional suggestion. Check the local Craigslist for options. I bought a very nice almost brand new matched pair of Whirlpool units for an elderly neighbor, from a couple who'd purchased them less than a year earlier before he got transferred for work and they had to leave Florida. Almost brand new condition for right around half price. And yes, I picked them up and installed them for my neighbor gratis. Actually that's not true. She made me a very tasty pumpkin pie. Smile
