Cracker Barrel jumps off the rebranding cliff
Did they hire the bimbo that wrecked Budweiser?
From comments across the internet, the name and decor changes are universally unpopular.

Trying to modernize to attract younger diners because your established clientele is literally dying off is not "woke" though. That term is getting WAY overused now if you ask me.

Cracker Barrel is in a tough spot as the older clientele who are their customer base do not like the changes but they will HAVE to change if they have any hope of attracting younger customers who don't like the old fashioned country clutter schtick.

My guess? This will fail and eventually they will go out of business.

I've only been to a Cracker Barrel once in about 2009ish, so I am far from an expert. I was wondering what this new "woke" look was all about. I don't see any "woke" decor in this news story. Confused

Their food is bland and service is mediocre. Could care less about the decorations and it would be a blessing not to have to navigate through the junk to get to the seats.

This article has some videos of the new decor.

A lot of the “older demographic” have kids that grew up going to Cracker Barrel. Those kids now bring their kids.

It will be interesting to see how this works out.

I don't see anything woke in that interview. They're a dying brand trying to save it because they will absolutely, 100% go out of business in the near future if they don't attract new clientele. Their business is nostalgia, but nostalgia for who? Their decor and most of the stuff they sell was gone from this world before I was born. My grandfather would have felt a connection, but not me and I'm not a young man myself anymore. Their brand as it sits has little connection to anyone under retirement age.

It sounds like they're at least trying to respect their roots, and keep the changes as small as they can to survive. It's a tough spot to be in. It may not work and they may still go out of business, but if they don't do anything it's a certainty.

I'm this person. My parents took me there when I was a kid, and I still have two locations within a few miles of my house. I'm grown now, and while I might take my son there as a novelty once or twice while he's young I don't have a desire to go there more than that. There are just too many other options that are better restaurants now, and that's not a good place for them to be going forward.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Saw a bit of this on Fox News this AM.
However, all I saw was a new logo and some interior remodeling.
Nothing leads me to any WOKE conclusion.
Not sure what all the comotion is about?

I like the old decor a lot better myself, however, at the end of the day good food and good service are what brings the people through the door and keeps them coming back.

One of the few places around here that serves Country Ham. Their bacon is very good, too.

The ancillary reports of the company having a Big LGBTQ+ and DEI pushes at corporate. Robby Starbuck should go after them and promote their coporate politics.

The thing was there was nothing wrong with the tinge of nostalgia decor. There is even the story of the guy who took a black and white picture of him and his dog and and framed it and hung it surreptitiously at his local CB and nobody ever noticed. The food always was meh but it is southern comfort food. Grits. Biscuits. Collards. Etc. They could have improved the food and kept the decor as it was and nobody would notice.

I have not eaten in a Cracker Barrel in about 15 years so I don't care what they do.

We're using this word wrong. Some of you throw it around the way the left does "racist." It's becoming meaningless. We have people in this thread ready to boycott Cracker Barrel because they changed out the seating and slapped on a fresh coat of paint for fuck's sake.

I've seen guys on this very forum very recently bemoaning the lack of critical thinking that's become prevalent. I feel like it's only the right thing to point it out here.

There's a cracker barrel a mile or two from my house and I occasionally eat there when I don't feel like cooking. The CB in my area seems to stay pretty busy since there parking lot is often full, the food is OK, nothing to get excited about, but it's affordable so you can't expect to much when you're paying less than 20 bucks for a meal. Service is OK, you don't wait to long for your meal to arrive at your table and most of the staff is friendly and courteous. I think good food, reasonably priced, good service and a good location are the keys to success for any restaurant.

Generally they have neither.

The last time I was in a Cracker Barrel I was kicked out. Of the kitchen.
Needless to say that visit didn't go particularly well, but my kids still remember it!

It's a chain restaurant with unremarkable food that caters to old people.

I ate there pretty frequently 9 years ago when I was in the academy on nights that we had liberty because it was close and it's wasn't fast food. I don't think I've been back to one since. There are too many good local options around here to bother with places like that.

They're just trying to capitalize on this stark-white farmhouse-chic trend right now. I'm surprised the place isn't covered with shiplap too
