I have been pushing this idea for nigh unto 40 years, now. Imagine if competition was introduced into the business - yes, business - of education! Graduates would be smarter, they'd see through the bull shit lies of the Democrats, and the Democrat Party would cease to exist. IOW, it will never happen.

Of all the enemies the American citizen faces, the Democrat Party is the very worst.

To a person of normal intelligence, both books effectively satirize and criticize racism. It is unmistakable to any rational person.

Why are we pandering to persons of less than normal intelligence?

You are correct. I might suggest the lack of "moral" intelligence may be a larger factor than the lack of traditional intellegence.

Fahrenheit 451....

"for the world, which seemsTo lie before us like a land of dreams,
So various, so beautiful, so new,
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;
And we are here as on a darkling plain
Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,
Where ignorant armies clash by night."

Absurd. We read both of them. I do remember my English teacher saying "slave" when she read certain passages aloud to discuss a particular point or theme.

Because those are the individuals we've allowed to take control of education, and for that matter, government. While everyone else is out in the private sector working hard seeking to advance and better themselves, the morons among us have slipped through the back door and are now running these segments of society. I have to deal with a sister-in-law and several of her friends on occasion, all teachers, who have no business being anywhere near a classroom. Case in point, one of them is currently teaching a sex education class, while being five months pregnant after getting knocked up after partying with friends one night. You just can't make this stuff up.

No words to describe the actual stupidity of these people.

But then, they are a product of the various schools in this nation.

Some wise person has been quoted as saying that the way to bring down a nation was to destroy the schools, disarm the populace so they can't fight back.

Well, they have accomplished the first task. They will never accomplish the second! They may write a shit ton of laws in trying to accomplish it, but the huge majority of 30?+ million gun owners will never give up their guns.

We will never learn from our past if our collective history is being erased because of a few. Every day it seems more of our history is being deemed forbidden by a few nanny's who cannot stomach the truth.. Mad

I'm somewhat confused why that word keeps popping up in this thread. 'Learning' anything of tangible value is not part of the current education/indoctrination process. Students are instead taught little of value, while being drilled on how they should 'feel' on every topic. Existence fueled by emotions, rather than intellect, is how so many in the country remain completely detached from reality.

The problem is that there is too much teaching and not enough learning.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Decades ago, it used to bug the heck outta me when Buckwheat told Alfalfa "Check your white privilege!"

I had no idea what he was talking about until just couple years ago.
