Government shutdown looms in NJ
“A government shut down in New Jersey is just days away as state lawmakers scramble to agree on a budget deal…”

http://www.oann.com/new-jersey...oming-govt-shutdown/

IMO, state and Federal constitutions ought to have a clause stating that if the executive and legislature can’t reach agreement on a budget, then the previous year’s budget should remain in effect. But with all spending items reduced by 1%, except for debt service. Resolution would be fast.

Serious about crackers.

So then the critters have to do even LESS work?

Screw that.

Shut it down forever. Everyone with the exception of the LEOs could be fired and few people would ever notice.

Make that 10%, with criminal penalties for spending without budgetary approval, and we have a deal. Wink

Isn't that essentially what the Democrats did in 2009? Passed a huge "bailout" budget, then refused to pass another budget, instead relying on continuing resolutions that kept spending at the inflated bailout amount. Even reduced by 1%, it was still obscene.

The fastest way to get the budget passed is to stop passing out welfare checks. After the entitled class burns down a few Walmarts, then the impasse will be resolved.

This is likely not possible in the real world.

This is alway sensationilized by the media, but really, WHO CARES? It will not be shut down long (if it does shut down at all) and everyone will receive back pay. It's really not a story except for the property owners and tax payers of NJ that will get screwed in the end with higher taxes and less services. This is just another liberal, progress democrat run SH*T HOLE. Although they do have good bagels, cold cuts, bread and pizza.....

Every day I give thanks that I escaped NJ. The cost of homes, taxes and energy costs are simply ridiculous.

I lived there 35 years and never once had the State of NJ pick up my trash. The local municipalities did that.

I was being hopeful. Shutting that government down would be like eliminating cockroaches from the world. Not gonna happen.

Why does anyone need the government to pick up their trash?
There's a big fight about that here.
We have always hired our own trash pickup service and then the County wanted us to have socialized trash care....
We opted out.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

The repressive, Marxist/socialist/communist Governor/government and their associated minion louses would pause their assault on the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the people of New Jersey for a season. Birds and choirs of angels would sing.

I have to smile at this one.

I live in Silicon Valley, we have five different "trash" categories for weekly pickup: normal garbage, recycle paper, recycle plastic, biodegradeables, and yard waste. Problem is normal "garbage" is the second smallest volume capacity, just a hair larger than biodegradeables. I have to pay more money for any extra normal garbage collection.

Their claimed reasoning to save planet earth (and the universe). Their real motivation is to make more money for themselves and their cronies.

I'm not convinced that a shut down of the government in NJ is anything but a positive for the Americans that live there

What makes you think taxes pay for garbage pickup?
Private service.

Ours (and many municipalities around here) all use private companies for trash pickup.

My trash is taken care of by a private company.

Effing gov't can't even do trash correctly.
