167AW (C-17s at Martinsburg WV) does the same thing. My brother's daughter was prepared for basic and then Security Forces tech school at Lackland. Your daughter is in good hands. I know she's excited about being a boomer but there are lots of other AFSCs and no matter what she does she'll be serving her country with good people taking care of her. Oh yeah, good benefits too. |

| I asked her what if she wasn’t qualified for some reason or they had no openings for boom operator and she said she would find something else. She will. When we did our first “windshield tour” of the base the recruiter showed us all the buildings and what jobs they had in them. She got the most excited when it came to fuel. Boom operator or even a aircraft Refueler on the flight line. I don’t know why but, the fuel stuff interests her. The recruiter started life as a aircraft/ground/flight line Refueler so he had a lot of inside baseball to give her in that aspect.
A buddy of mine has a little brother that is a boom operator at the base so he gave us a real in depth tour of their facilities. He started life as a full time firefighter for the air guard then moved over to refueling. He said he should have did that from the get go because of the different missions and travel. |
