egregorefront windshield auto glass replacement... experiences?
Live in the Mojave Desert, with its blowing dust and sand. Your windshield will get sandblasted.

What are you guys doing? Replacing them ever time you find a sand pit in one?
Not just
a sand pit, but so many that the windshield would "sparkle" when the sun hit it just right. I drove this road to work from 1997-2000.
(On the other side of the mountains is Fort Irwin.)
At the time, the surface of this road was so bad that stones and asphalt chunks would fly up and hit your car.

71 TRUCKMy wife and I live in Central florida. Most of the major highway around here are heavily traveled by tractor trailers and dump trucks. They kick up a lot of stones.
In the 22 years we have lived here we have had several windshield replaced, my 2013 Scion FR-S just a few weeks ago. All have been after market so far and we have been pleased. My biggest concern would be leaks due to an improperly installed windshield. We get heavy rain in Central florida during the summer.

kx90Had to replace the windshield in my 2013 Frontier. The OEM was about $1k, the aftermarket was about $250. I didn't know any different then but now I do. I will never go with aftermarket glass again.
The clarity sucks, the difference is obvious. And I absolutely hate the blue tinted bar across the top of the windshield.

Yes, the desert was tough on windshields and everything else vehicle related. I wonder how many white crosses are along that stretch of road now! I drove that road many times when I was stationed there.
