I have a friend who flies for that company up there. I emailed and got a response, luckily it wasn't him. Flying conditions can be brutal up there. Prayers for those lost and their families.

Juan Browne had a video up on this before the plane was found. He does a decent job with these things.

I don't want to take anything away from the tragedy, but crashes like this are more common than most people realize.

I think someone on SigForum turned me onto Juan Browne. He's my goto guy for aircraft mishaps. He sticks to the facts that are known at the time he's making the video.

Hoover on Pilot Debrief is another great source. I also really enjoy Ward Carroll.

All three are former military pilots.

I've had a few relationships with gals originally from the Bush. They'd fly back to the village a couple of times a year and sometimes, they'd come back with some harrowing stories of their flights. While much safer than decades ago, weather is always an issue and crashes are not uncommon.

As of 2019, Alaska lead nation in plane crashes per capita. A lot of areas only accessible via plane and extreme weather.
