I play a bunch of different mindless free games on my iPhone that usually play ads between levels or failed levels and the ads for Dems have even infiltrated these.

I'm tired of having political ads shoved down my throat everywhere I turn.

I feel like Eddie Bauer has been making strides to push back at the commercial slide that companies like North Face and Mountain Hardware have fallen into. The stuff from Mountain Hardware that ends up in TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack is garbage gear.

Eddie Bauer, a couple years ago, seemed to start to bring back the practicality and "hard use" aspect of their gear, that I feel like harkens back to the 70s and 80s Eddie Bauer that I always found to be extremely well-made.

YMMV.

I have a couple of my late brother’s P-garments c. 1985. Funny how, over the years they fit, then didn’t fit, got taken, abandoned by the taker, retrieved for posterity, and now fit me again. Smile

But buying their new product? No, they’ve gone the way of my favorite scrappy college radio station of yesteryear. Too cool and corporate PC-hip, smeared in their own goo.

Indeed.

Typical approach of people once they "make it" they pull up the ladder to make it harder on others to repeat their success (and compete against them).

They’ve been on a Democratic socialist march for years.

I don’t buy their crap anymore.

For the record, TJ Maxx is a part of Marshall's. Along with Sierra Trading Post, TJ Maxx is where most outdoor brands go to sell their closeouts and out-of-season styles. Those brands that have their own outlets or, clearance arrangements with select dealers, can reduce or, avoid going to those clearance retailers. As for garbage styles...1. That's why they're getting pitched to the clearance houses, and 2. you should see the stuff that didn't even get made Wink

As for Eddie Bauer, they're run by former execs and creatives from The North Face and Colombia; as an outdoor brand, they're no different than Abercrombie & Fitch and Banana Republic. Names that used to be established in one market but, have transitioned to the lifestyle market after several ownership changes. They've been operating in their own world for a better part of 25-years now. When they brought on leadership alumni from TNF, they launched the First Ascent collection in attempt to regain some legitimacy in the technical outdoor world. That attempt fizzled after 3-years and they went back focusing on price-pointed, mass-market outdoor clothing that could compete with Uniqlo and LL Bean.
