CliffYep. Have the same thing at the Lowes up the street from me.

ensigmaticHave 'em here, too.
I'd
assumed those were all handicapped and "store pickup" reserved spots and was grousing to myself about as I walked to the entrance. Looked. "Well I'll be damned."
Every time I check out I get a 10% discount and a "Thank you for your service," too.
Used to be Home Depot had better staffing and product selection. For several years that has flipped, around here. So I was already shopping Lowe's more often. Their support for veterans is only icing on the cake.
I know a lot here prefer Menards, but the closest one of those for us is easily twice as far away, through
much more traffic.

I try and buy everything I need from Lowe’s due to these little things they do for Veterans. The 10% off adds up.

45_AutoHave them up here in NH at the store I work part time in.
The new CEO is very "pro" Veteran, a survey was done for all Veteran employees as to what they prefer. A baseball cap or a coffee mug with "Proud Veteran" printed on it.
He also has provided special name tags for all Veteran Employees, you get to choose from a camo or American flag scheme, and provided "Proud Veteran" patches for their vests.
Also, I understand that in the next couple of months, Veterans will have the choice of wearing the traditional red vests, or a new "camo" vest.
This guy is pretty awesome, he was the driving force behind the Veteran parking signs.

A Veteran is someone who wrote a blank check Made payable to 'The United States of America' for an amount of 'Up to and including their life'.
That is Honor. Unfortunately there are way too many people in this Country who no longer understand that.

Same with me.
I haven't looked to see if the local ones here have these signs up.

SSgt USMC/VetLowes in Henderson NC, also has four spots.

GustoferI guess I'll be the odd man out.
I think that these parking spots for various groups are simply ridiculous. Are veterans unable to walk the extra 15-20 feet to park in a regular spot?

And how are you going to police whether or not someone is a veteran? I don't have an ID verifying that I'm a veteran and I'll damn sure not carry around my 214.
Hell, my brother was a quadriplegic and confined to a wheelchair for 30 years and he never parked in the handicapped spots. Why would he? He was in a chair. That rolls.
And don't get me started on the pregnant women parking spots. Next it'll be nursing mothers.
I do take advantage of their 10% discount though.

rscalzoThe one here in Epping has them.

You don't as they aren't covered by a state statute or local ordinance. It's courtesy that the company provides.
This is in front of friend's gun shop in town. True local won't be enforcing it. But anybody using it not meeting the standard will find themselves bounced out of the shop.

tatortoddGood for Lowe’s.
The local Texas grocer, HEB, has had those for quite a while.

Chris42Not sure there are such signs locally or not, not sure I’ll use the spots or not, but like that they appreciate Veterans and are showing it in notable ways.

911BossHome Depot's in my area have had them for years. I appreciate them and the veteran's discount.
What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

FusterncHave those here now also. Very cool!
Lowes clerk always thanks me for my service when I use the discount and it applies every day. Have been very impressed with their service.
Home Depot is a different story entirely...........

As is Lowe’s.
I go to a store for products, service, and value. I really don’t care what corporate policy is. The main driver of policy is lawyers and liability concerns. It’s business. Common sense says if you are going to alienate customers, best to alienate the fewest numbers possible. Rabid, pro-gun, zealots are always going to be the minority in such cases.
At the end of the day, company policies have little effect on me. I carry concealed and as of yet, there is no criminal consequence for violating a stores “preference”. Though being in WA, I imagine it won’t be long til the anti’s work to change that as well.
I carry concealed where
legally allowed to do so. 100% of the time I am able to complete my retail transactions without personal or corporate beliefs and ideologies becoming involved. Just as it should be as far as I am concerned.
As a consumer, cost, availability of goods, and quality of service is what is important to me. I realize it varies by store, but my HD experiences have always been superior to my Lowe’s experiences.
Costco is well known to be “anti-gun”, yet I’ve found no one that touches their level of service and value. Spending 20-30% more for something somewhere else (assuming there even
is a somewhere else) is never going to be an effective “protest” that forces any change.
I save several hundred dollars a year by going to Costco, if not well over a thousand. Only one that suffers is me if I refuse to do business with them over their gun policy.
What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

Patrick-SP2022Slight drift.
What are your thoughts on a person who received a Dishonorable Discharge, Bad Conduct Discharge, or Other Than Honorable Conditions Discharge using these parking spots reserved for veterans?
January 02, 2019, 10:38 AM
sig229-SASLooks like all the stores have the same signage, here in Murphy, NC they have 4 spots marked for vets. Our only choice for big box stores is Lowes but even when I had HD across the street from Lowes I always shopped at Lowes, I like the store in general and of course the 10% is attractive.
