Coloradohunter is correct. I stopped at Little Bighorn. Well worth stopping, walking and spending some time there.

WoodmanTP, metal trowel, 2-gallon jug to refill with water. A dozen tees, skivvies, socks. Hand towels. Butane hot plate, cup, pot, cone, filters, coffee, creamer. A few bags of mixed nuts. Sunscreen. Extra sunglasses. Bag of ointments and creams. Spare keys. Ring clipped to belt with car remote. Overflow on roof rack would be handy. Mat, a couple of sheets, cross-purpose blankets.
Etc. I recently drove 2600 miles including long drives in rural WV OH IN KS NM AZ. Interstate in PA and MO. The ride home will be even more varied.

usp_fanWhile in the Black Hills, if you want a great hike, drive up to Silvan lake and hike to the top of Black Elk (Harney) peak. You can see 4 states from the top. The structure at the top is an old fire tower the CCC built in 1939. It's about an 8 mile round trip.

Usually opens for Memorial Day, but check. We stayed in Red Lodge then drove into the Park and stayed one night at Mammoth Hot Springs and one night at Yellowstone Lake. It was right about now 15 years ago.

SBrooksSay hello to the Duttons. Beth in particular. Just watch out for Rip when you do...
actually, besides being a smartass. I was thinking I need to add yellowstone to my bucket list after watching that show. Gorgeous scenery.

ShaqlYou might consider Jewel Cave near Mt Rushmore. We enjoyed it but call ahead for the reservation.

Rey HRHThere's a private company offering tours of yellowstone. Take both the upper and lower loop trous. Each takes a day.
That's what we did when we were there in 2017.
