trapper189Customer kills knife wielding robber at St Louis area convenience store
The good guy sees a bad guy put a knife to a woman’s neck. The good guy decides to intervene, distracts the bad guy from the woman, the bad guy charges good guy and gets killed. We see this from the camera’s perspective, but we should be thinking about it through the eyes of the good guy.
I don’t think being a legal scholar is a requirement in this situation. I don’t believe the good guy ran down or should have run down a checklist of potential crimes: aggravated assault, attempted murder, armed robbery, petty theft, etc. and made the decision that what he did would be lawful.
When he sees the woman held at knifepoint, that’s it. He has no requirement to predict the future, no need to divine the bad guy’s intent. When he intervened, the bad guy still had the knife, the woman was a foot away and still in danger.
That’s what I would see as a juror and what I believe the police saw in determining no wrong doing by the good guy. I’d also hope I my fellow jurors would see the same.

As constitutional carry becomes more prevalent I think there will be more of these.
Legitimate use of firearms for self defense is neither new nor rare. According to CDC statistics, it's on the order of 100,000 incidents reported per year.
And that's just reported. I'm sure the legitimate defensive use of firearms is vastly under-estimated. I've drawn my weapon in response to imminent danger, and everyone decided to go on their merry way. No shots, no police, and no report from anyone.
I'm sure I'm in good, if silent company.
What is new, and surprising, is that more and more of these events are reported by the corrupt media, rather than swept under the rug.

1KPerDayI love how this story is written. I love that they're blurring the faces and keeping him anonymous. I love that the police are publicly saying he won't be charged and was justified. I wish national news outlets would learn.
