I am a "Vietnam Era Vet" but not a "Vietnam Vet" because I was never in Viet Nam. I was in USAF for the entire duration of the war but they never told me to go there (and I didn't volunteer). I have great respect for the ones who served and especially for the ones who did not come back, and I'd never try to pretend I was a Viernam Vet.

During my 20 years my overseas assignments were Labrador, Johnston Island, Iran, and Germany.

We should explore how to address a military veterans day. It's a time to remember those who didn't return, too.

It's not all picnics and ice cream for some of us.

"Happy" isn't an all encompassing term for vet holidays. Just sayin.

Those who didn't return: Memorial Day.

Those who served: Veterans Day.
