I am really hoping this is true. Takko and Blake could scuttle raft of gun control bills In war, truth is the first casualty. Aeschylus Greek tragic dramatist (525 BC - 456 BC) | |||

There's still plenty of time to sign!
There's a lot of people, particularly in WA. who also hope it is true. The first measure, 5992 re. 'Trigger Modification Devices' passed out of committee, tho it is not clear as to which language/version, if it was the generic 'trigger modification device' or the more specific language specifically going after bump stocks. **This measure was also sponsored by a WA. Senator who claims to be pro-2A and a Lifetime NRA member.** BOSS A real life Sisyphus... "It's not the critic who counts..." TR Exodus 23.2: Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong... So HB1122 Substitute Bill regarding safe storage passed out of committee by a 7-6 vote. IMHO, It appears to be mostly 'feel good' legislation. The gist seems to be *if* a child gets an unsecured firearm AND does something bad with it, you can be held accountable for it. There's some ambiguous wording in there that of course can be interpreted/stretched. And the closing says nothing in the section mandates how or where a firearm must be stored, yet in the sections above it is specifically listing several types of storage devices (gun safe, etc). SB5992 Trigger Modification devices passed out of committee by a 4-3 vote. It appears the language to essentially specify 'Bump Stocks' is NOT going to be included. However, there is a proposed amendment to essentially focus it on actual devices such as 'bump stocks' and 'trigger cranks,' but exclude things like gunsmithing/'action jobs' to a degree, tho it's not clear if that language is going to be included. It is also specifically listing a firing rate of 5-6 rds apparently as some form of qualifier of being a 'machine gun'...uh, yeah... There's video of the committee hearings if you really want to see how this is all occurring...its about what you'd expect...the sponsoring legislator proclaiming that he's a lifelong NRA member and that he's talked to his fellow shooting buddies and they all agree with this measure... Even more restrictive measures are on the horizon... Signatures can still be submitted above... BOSS A real life Sisyphus... "It's not the critic who counts..." 1500+ views. Next hearing: Washington State House Judiciary Committee, January 25th at 1:30pm in the John L. O'Brien building Hearing Room A. The Alliance For Gun Responsibility is posting they have a problem because the 'gun lobby' [ie the law abiding citizens standing up for their rights] are "bombarding" legislators with emails/calls. Even the mega-training center in Nevada is sending out action alerts. You can still help. Well, 5992 passed the Senate by a 29-20 vote, including 4 Republicans and Dem. Takko. It still has to go for a full vote. If there's a silver lining, it's that the version that passed was vastly narrower, specifically listing 'bump stocks' rather than 'parts' that 'increased the rate of fire' The bigger issues...mag/'assault weapon' bans, background checks, state pre-emption are still on the horizon. Hopefully 5992 will be their one and only temporary victory. There's also now SB6415 requiring explicit permission to carry a concealed pistol into a private residence...conviction of a violation only costs you your CPL for just a 'temporary' 5 year stint. Yeah, the law abiding folks that go through the background check and get CPL's, they're obviously the problem... You can still help with the links above. BOSS A real life Sisyphus...
