I have some old LBE gear that I want to modify, in the past....way back in the day I took kit to a local cobbler to add pouches etc and I still might do that. Not sure what it would cost but 20+ years ago it was ~$70 bucks, I am sure it would be at least double that...which would be ok but depending on cost I could just order some custom kit from England at $300+

looks great but it would not have all I am looking for...thus the want to do it myself.

So, I was wondering if anyone here does it and what they use to sew webbing together, sewing the single layers of nylon together would not be overly hard but to add pouches you have to sew through several layers and a simple awl won't cut it? I have seen some manual sewing machines on amazon that claim they are heavy duty enough to do the job but since I have minimal.....like sew a button minimal sewing skills I would love to get some input if anyone has any.
