Often, the issue is not so much the subject that is brought to the table, so to speak.
Rather, it is the inability of some folks to not keep pushing, when another has answered in a manner to incline those present that that do not which to continue that line of discussion.

That seems to go to another insight: Read the room and the hearers. Don't keep pressing after the grape is already squeezed to full in the hearer's glass. People can only take so much at a time. And, some glasses fill sooner than others; know when to quit.

Monkey, seems you're right, of course, from what I've seen sometimes in my experience.

I would tend to agree with not having that tree as part of the contest. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Turning it political seems, well, it just doesn’t seem right. Christmas is supposed to be a happy time where we sing carols and spend time with family.

I wouldn’t want a Trump tree, or a Hillary tree. I would prefer a good ole Christmas tree with lights, garlands and glass ornaments.

Reading the article there was not a policy or guideline against it. The idea is to make trees and wreaths that people will bid and pay for, and then the festival donates that money to charity. If your item doesn't sell, the public didn't like it (make a note don't make one of those again.) I think it would have sold for a good amount for the festivals charity. More than likely no current living politician would be considered for a display like this. I have seen patriotic themed wreaths/trees at these festivals and some with "founding themes" featuring George Washington. Is this now out?

I get it, no Trump politics at the tree festival - Kevin Maynard was more than likely horrified at the sight. Just realize your red/white/blue patriotic/military themed tree/wreath will be someone else "offensive politics".

Good on Davenport Guns, I hope her tree gets very high bids.

Ashley said when she asked organizers for the policy that stated her tree could not feature political messaging, the policy did not exist.

The organization admitted that its policy could have been more clear, and said they planned to re-work their guidelines to avoid future confusion.

Donald Trump is not a politician, he is a leader, politicians are a dime a dozen, leaders are priceless.
