Happily Retired |
They are all different. The wife keeps the house spotless. I help out quite a bit. I usually wash all the vehicles but there have been lots of times when the wife is out there alongside of me. My daughter was raised watching (and helping) the wife keep the house clean. Now that she has a place of her own, it's pretty much always a mess. Go figure. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.

His and Hers, problem solved. I have seen "rolling dumpsters" and there is no specific gender, financial demographic, race, political affiliation, alien vs predator or animal vs mineral as a valid factor in the equation. Some people just shit where they sleep and care not a whit about it. Others, will do anything to help provide an environment for immaculate conception (yeah, it's a pun...). I’m blessed with a woman who loves to clean/organize. She doesn’t leave her car dirty at all but hates cleaning/washing cars. I, on the other hand, enjoy the process of washing cars—two bucket system, pressure washing, foam cannon, etc. Our deal is that she cleans the house and I wash the cars weekly. It works out well for us. She does have a tendency to leave lights on in the bathroom, closets, the laundry room, and the pantry. And I cannot, the life of me, understand why she insists on having the house ice cold at night all the while have several layers of blankets bundled up like an Eskimo? Why not raise the A/C a bit to use fewer blankets and save energy costs?

She has the house cold so that she will be comfortable all bundled up. I'm not a psychiatrist, but it sounds like a need for security to me. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

hello darkness my old friend |
So she keeps the house clean and you let her drive around in a dirty car? For shame! This is a test and you are failing. House is her responsibility and cars belong to the men. Women are aware of our fondness for hanging around in the garage so, she probably thinks she is doing you a favor by letting you work on her car. Time to make a payment in the emotional bank account and surprise her with a well cleaned car.

Get my pies outta the oven! |
Mine cannot shut a kitchen cabinet door to save her life. I joke around with her that I know she was recently in the kitchen because half the cabinet doors will be hanging open. I don't get this at all. You open a cabinet, you get something out, you close the cabinet. Done. I'll actually walk over to the kitchen and shut every cabinet because it bugs the everloving shit out of me, I hope she's not doing it to piss me off.

Husband, Father, Aggie, all around good guy! |
Amen brother PASig!! You open it you close it same with the pantry and utility room doors, close them!! OP, I need both to be clean, house and car. I lived dirty in college when room mates were slobs, but then I grew up. Not antiseptically, OCD clean but clean. HK Ag

Too clever by half |
I did clean her car, that was what prompted the post. And it took an hour and a half to get the outside passably clean, and I haven't gotten to the wheels or removed the tar slung behind the wheels yet. But, I experimented to see how long it would take until she tired of the car being so filthy. I still don't know what that time period is, I only know it's longer than I could stand. Maybe she recognized it was a test, and knew she could outlast me. Well, mission accomplished. BTW, it's mostly the outside that she's terrible about. The inside is picked up, not filthy or nasty, just needs a good wipe down and serious vacuuming. But, there is all the crap she carries around in her trunk that she feels she needs. Not useful year round stuff like jumper cables, but stuff like a big honking ice scraper in July. jigray3, if your wife needs more stuff in her trunk, let me know. I will try to get my wife's stuff from her trunk out and put it in your wife's car. I'm always moving it out of the car, then back into the car depending on what we are doing. I can also give her a spare ice scraper. ------- Trying to simplify my life...
