Why Does My Spouse......
.... insist on a clean house, but drive around in a dirty car?

There I said it, and it feels good. If I don't clean the thing, it doesn't get cleaned. And perhaps I'm wrong, and it ain't PC to say it, but generally I think this is prevalent among females.

What does your spouse do that makes no sense to you?

In my experience I would agree - not a hard, fast rule but definitely more probable.

If my Dad didn't clean the car, I doubt my mom would. She'd probably take it to a full service detailer to have done, but she wouldn't do it herself.

Funny.

I'm the exact opposite: I clean my cars and let my house get that "lived in" look.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

May I make the assumption you are a man? Wink

My wife has always kept her cars nice but it helps to have Wash-A-Rama down the street and Mike's nearby. Actually there are about a half dozen decent car washes within 3 miles, 2 full service and 4 auto drive thru exterior only.

mine:

1. insists that everything at home be put away, like her mom does, yet shit is just thrown into closets so it's still a mess but merely out of sight.

2. leave the toilet lid up. Maybe that's just a pet peeve of mine.

I'm not married, but my sister-in-law keeps both the house and her car immaculate.

I'd rather clean a car than a house.

Count your blessings.

This is my Wife as well. I agree that I would rather clean the car than the house. Smile

Been married to her for 31 years, together for 34. The entire time she has been this way and it is a running joke that her car looks like a bag-lady lives out of it.

As far as the house, say what you want but that OCD comes in handy for keeping it nice and ship-shape and since I seem to do everything “wrong” she does about 97.86% of the housework which is ok by me. I gladly clean out her truck once a month or so in return.

Guilty as well.

Not so with my wife. She keeps her car immaculate and the house is always at minimum "picked up"

I have noticed though that younger women seem to not care what the inside of their car looks like. It's like they are too busy texting and putting on make-up to give a shit about crap laying around on the car floor and back seat. I don't know if this carries over to their house, but have my suspicions.

Use common areas of the living room and dining room as storage. I have not seen baseboards in either room in over 10 years. Heaps. Bins. Heaps of bins. Her car is similar. The closets are worse. I don't dare free up a spot. She'll claim the spot with a pair of shoes that eventually is replaced with a bag, bin, box, etc. of random crap.

I guess it's better than she's paying for a pool boy when we don't have a pool. Big Grin
