I agree. I think that it is one of few "do it all and do it well" calibers out there. I hunted everything with a 7mm RemMag for many years and stupidly sold/traded it back in the 90s when the bigger is always better craze hit, for a 300WinMag...that I haven't even shot in probably 20 years.

I've been shopping around for a Weatherby 7mmMag recently to replace it. Of course, what I bought for around $300 years ago now goes for around $3000. Frown

And you can't go wrong with a Leupold 3x9. A do it all scope for a do it all rifle.

I’d lean a quality scope topping out at 12-14 power on a gun like that. That is, if you plan more than the 75 yard woods shot at a MO deer.

For the vast majority of my hunting & shooting, some form of a duplex is enough for a reticle. As needed, a rangefinder can be incorporated. Even out prairie dogging, a fine duplex works for as far as I care to shoot.

Let’s say one has 8-10+ viable rifles, not each needs to have that high $$ scope mounted. It’s not hard to move that quality glass to another rifle. My main big game rifle(284 Win) is always ready to go, as a few others, 243, 223. Some of the others sit more in reserve, often no scope mounted.

I’ve bought a few from this place.

I think that's probably right. Thanks.
I'll post a WTB in the classifieds.

Here's the new 7mm Rem Mag rig. I finally got it put together. I did my best to bore-sight it in the back yard. I haven't fired it yet.

This gun has a longer barrel and is heavier than my A-bolt II in 30.06.

It shows some wear, particularly on the stock near the back of the receiver, left side (opposite the bolt).

Special thanks to member hi-power man who sold me the Leupold VX-II 3-9x40.

Thanks, Gus.

Hey, does anyone seeing this still hunt with a 7mm RemMag? If so, I've found a great ammo deal for you. I just bought 200 rounds for this rifle so I'm set. These are "factory seconds" which means some minor blemish. I can't see any blemish in the box I looked through.

Remington Core-Lokt Ammunition - 7 MM Remington Magnum - 175 Grain Pointed Soft Point - 20 Round - FACTORY SECONDS
SKU# R7MM3-SECONDS

A fine looking classic.

Finally made it to the range...
It kicks like a mule compared to the same gun in 30-06! Eek
I only fired it 7 times, the first 4 making big adjustments to the scope.
I'm reasonably happy with the last 3 @ 100 yards.
