egregoreIt must suck to be his wife and children, if any. He probably treats them like that too.

jbourneidentityIf you really want to get down to it, this is probably criminal assault (misdemeanor) based on the fear he put that child in that either she, or her dad, would be hurt.
Now, I'm guessing that no spineless prosecutor is going to touch it because you know how prosecutors are these days, but the dad should complete an affidavit and push the issue.
Too many of these entitled pricks have forgotten a basic civics lesson: We don't work for them. They work for us.
It has gotten totally out of hand with these elitists at all levels. If these scumbags aren't held to account soon, it's going to get really bad. This is just the beginning.
An observation about this turd: He fed off that girl's fear. He enjoyed her fear. He savored it. Calm as a cucumber. I'm willing to bet there's a lot going on in his background besides his power trip.

Mars_AttacksIf you read his bio on the city's website, he should know better.

I found this, but no telling who actually said it first. Great quote, though...

Publilius Syrus is the first accredited, I think, but I could be wrong.

PykerSomeone needs to invite him to step outside with somebody who doesn't GAS who he thinks he is.

parabellum CensuredBut that's really not what is needed, and notice how the deputy mayor soft-soaps it. "Very, very unfortunate" and "people lose their temper." He's an elected public official, genius! You're probably related to this asshole.

No citizens showed up at this meeting. That's no surprise. They don't want to end up on youtube in perpetuity.

Not good. It's essentially just a slap on the wrist then. Grr.

OKCGeneThis is a good example of what happens when people somehow have immunity from any consequences, or even questions, of their abuse of power.
Power corrupts, absolute power absolutely corrupts etc etc etc, but the real issue is when Power suffers no consequences, at all, none, they are immune to criticism, prosecution, etc.
I'm not phrasing that well, I'm sure someone here could clean up my statement to be more concise clear and eloquent. I'm just a redneck, but I call'em like I see'em.

Ordeal?
October 15, 2021, 06:38 PM
vthokyI'd say "ending the ordeal" would involve replacing the mayor.

The censure was basically waving their finger at him.
October 16, 2021, 01:23 PM
Il CattivoThe censure was
supposed to end the ordeal. Whether it does or not depends on whether the voters think it's enough.

Scooter123Have any of you read about the context that triggered this confrontation. The complainant REGULARLY double parks and blocks a Traffic Lane because he doesn't want his kid to walk an extra 50 feet. To be blunt the guy complaining he was bullied is one of those assholes who doesn't give a shit about inconveniencing a bunch of other drivers. I will also point out that someday a kid may get hit because this double parking asshole blocked the line of visibility for a child crossing the street while someone was illegally passing this asshole.
I've stopped counting.

vthokyThere are good ways and bad ways of dealing with problems.
I believe Mayor Tom chose one of the bad ones, and didn't (based on the videos seen) put a single bit of positive effort toward actually
solving the perceived problem.
Confrontation is a largely emotional event that rarely helps deal with the root cause.

Still doesn't give the mayor the right to pull the "Do you know who I am?" out of his pocket and use it. Best thing the Mayor could have done was call the police to have the guy move his vehicle.

HayesGreenerMy experience with local politicians has been mixed. Some are there to serve and make things better. Some are there to "be somebody". The "Be Somebodies" often get the confused notion that they are Ceasar. I have seen it enough times to ask, "who the Hell votes these assholes into office?" Then I look at people like AOC ad Maxine Waters and Shelia Jackson Lee and Biden and Harris and think, your community gets what it deserves.
