A lengthy Grainger advertisement before the video, but a helluva flash flood. “Hundreds of tourists, including 12 Britons and three Americans, are missing after devastating floods and mudslides swept away buildings and bridges along the Nepal-Tibet border. Houses and roads were swept away in Nepal while officials in China-controlled Tibet said they feared 'major casualties' with some missing in the county of Gyirong after a mudslide hit a land crossing between the neighbours this morning. Authorities have so far found the bodies of 31 people following the natural disaster, amid fears that many more will be found as search and rescue operations get underway. Terrifying footage shows a tsunami wave of flood water crashing through a town, sweeping away everything in its path in the mountainous Rasuwa region of Nepal. …” https://mol.im/a/16080949 Serious about crackers.

Holy crap. Prayers for the Nepalese people. That's a country that I've always wanted to visit. Very sad...without warning there was no escaping that. ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

When I saw the initial 20 seconds of this I thought, why not try to ascend part of that rock wall. Then I saw the impact of the flood waters and debris and said nope.

Video from people running uphill to get away and then the water hits taking out an entire village, along with video from the top of a mountain of the flash flood... https://x.com/Mrgunsngear/status/2092632113409339673 https://x.com/libsoftiktok/status/2092629825483571611

That is horrific. Did a dam break? Probably one of the worst things I have seen video of that is just unbelievable. Prayers for them all. This message has been edited. Last edited by: old rugged cross, "Practice like you want to play in the game"

Crazy video, much seems unsurvivable. I wonder if there was a chance of a warning? It seems some form of a landslide plugging a river, then giving way all at once. I would think there was some time between the landslide then the temporary, natural ‘dam’ breaking. Reminds me some of the Johnstown Flood, PA, 1889, over 2000 fatalities. I swung through a little news on this flood, CNN mentioned ‘climate change’ at least 4 times in their article, as expected.

First video shared by HRK - Did the guy at the bottom of the hill at 0:27 actually stop to watch?? Second video - Those people never stood a chance. This is a good explanation of the events leading up to the flash flood. A 4.4 magnitude earthquake triggered a massive Ice avalanche that led to the flooding on the river below. https://x.com/WeatherMonitors/.../2092603463406342484

Now they're saying the landslide has dammed up the river, and the area behind it is rapidly filling with water as the river continues to flow. Eventually that dirt pile is going to collapse, and there will likely be a second flood ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

I don’t usually get too emotional over stuff like this. Not because I don’t care or they don’t look like me or anything callous like that, more so because tragedy happens all the time and between that and folks being so far removed from my world it’s easy to just sort of see things as news story, nothing else. That said, something about this flood really got to me. The almost biblical size of it compared to those people and structures, the absolute terror of knowing there really is no time/no place to go. Being across the village from other family or friends. Etc. etc. something about this one gets to me on a visceral level for some reason. May God help those people. Prayers for all. Check out the community note: I double checked the USGS site and the community note is 100% accurate. A landslide so massive that it triggers earthquake sensors at M5.2 just boggles the mind.
