FrostedFlakes and Sugar Smacks. Now I'm diabetic and can't have either. Or cheerios. Heck, not even rich. Had a dish with riced califlower for dinner.

None of the above, sorry. White Rice, milk, cinnamon, a pat of butter and just a little Stevia. .

We got corn flakes. I was envious of kids that got those variety packs. Times were a little hard but we had full bellies.

Back, and to the left |
We didn't get sugared cereals. We had Post Toasties, Grape nuts, Shredded Wheat (the big ones), and I think for a brief moment, Special K. I didn't care. We had a big sugar bowl that could make anything edible. I used to have un dissolved sugar at the bottom of the bowl sometimes. Once one summer, my Mom let me choose a cereal for my birthday since it was right around the corner. Count Chocula. I figured, I like chocolate and vampires. Once the novelty wore off, it was kind of meh. I went right back to my sugar bombs. I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. -Ecclesiastes 9:11 ...But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by Him shall glory, but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. - Psalm 63:11 [excerpted]

I alternate between Honey Nut Cheerios, Corm Flakes and Frosted Flakes. Frosted Flakes are like eating candy for breakfast...I am pretty sure they are 'bad' for me, but I just can't stop eating them. Best regards, Mark in Michigan

Both. Cheerios pretty healthy. Frosted Flakes not so much. Actually, I love Frosted Flakes but just haven't eaten them for years. I might now that this thread has popped up. I would eat them as a dessert replacement.

Oh yeah, Grape Nuts. Nothing like chewing on small pebbles masquerading as cereal.

It's not easy being me |
Arfmel, sounds not too far off from my house growing up in the 60's. My dad had Type 1 Diabetes (used to be more commonly referred to as insulin-dependent or Juvenile Diabetes in the 60's), so we had Cheerios. My mom was a Physical Therapist, so she was totally onboard with no sugar items in the house. We were the only house around that didn't have the traditional jug of sweet tea in the fridge in Nashville. Still just Cheerios for me, as I was diagnosed with Type 1 in '85. _______________________________________ Flammable, Inflammable, or Nonflammable....... Hell, either it Flams or it doesn't!! As a kid, plain ol corn flakes. Pretty much fixed me for cereal. Cheerios taste bland to me. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Frosted Flakes, although it was way too sugary, and you had to scarf 'em down at the right time between being too dry or too soggy. Cheerios floated on the milk and were puffed up with air so you had to swirl it around in the milk and then shovel almost the whole damn bowl into your mouth to get a decent chew. That left you with a bowl of milk that required several iteratons of Cheerios to eat with a proper cereal-to-milk ratio-what a pain in the neck when Scooby Doo is about to start. Cap’n Crunch first, then, Frosted Flakes, Cheerios. “There is love in me the likes of which you’ve never seen. There is rage in me the likes of which should never escape." —Mary Shelley, Frankenstein

We didn't have a lot of sweets in the house whether it was pop, candy, cereal etc.. My father liked Cheerios and Rice Krispies so that was what was in the house. We could have Frosted Flakes, frosted mini wheat or Sugar Smacks and that was about it. We didn't have any of the really sweet cereal either. Now if we went to my grandparents they had Corn Flakes, and Shredded Wheat and that was it.

Frosted Flakes tastes really sweet and bland to me now, but as a kid I was a Frosted Flakes fiend. As a child, I was a fussy eater. I hated soggy cereal. I would eat my FF dry with a glass of milk—put spoon in mouth and then drink milk. That way I could take all the time in the world and the cereal would never get soggy. You know what sounds good now? Cap'n Crunch's Peanut Butter Crunch. Do they still make that?

Always lots of sugary cereals in my house as a kid. But then again both parents smoked like chimneys, in the house and in the cars. My favorite was Frosted Flakes with fruit cocktail in it. I'm getting a sugar rush just remembering it.
