Sorry the deal fell through. I wasn't having any luck getting shipping at any sort of an affordable rate, solely because of the kayak's length.

The river kayak I had shipped air freight was 10' 6". Ocean kayaks are much longer, but personally I would investigate shipping further, so if a boat pops up for a good price, you have the shipping numbers in hand.

Good idea on me getting the logistics worked out ahead of time c1steve! I feel like had I done that I might not have had this deal fall through.

I was surprised to have one of my local outdoor outfitters call me back today after contacting Wilderness Systems about pricing out & ordering a 2023 kayak. He said it might be as long as February before they have either of the models I want back in stock BUT he looked for me and found two models on Craigslist that are not too far away and close to what I was looking for.

That is damn good customer care to send a customer in a pretty good direction when you don’t have what they want. I was surprised he called me back and shocked that he found me a local Tempest 170. If only it were the pro model and made out of fiberglass instead of plastic…

I used my google-fu, not sure if you’ve seen this listing?

There’s a 180 as well, much cheaper, fiberglass but the condition is not as good, also in Maryland.
