For just one log? Damn, I like to keep cheater logs on hand for my firepit, but $16 is kinda steep when I can get a box of 6 for like $8.

Could be fun for a joke, I guess, slip one in when nobody is looking, and watch everyone get hungry for fried chicken.

There should be a similar product for those of us who haven't had a date in a while.

This would market well in Japan, where Christmas and KFC are inexorably tied (long story).

It’s not that long a story.

From what I understand, Christmas wasn’t generally celebrated in Japan at all owing to the <2% Christian population at the time. Then along comes KFC with a brilliant advertising campaign (KFC = Kentucky For Christmas) and the Christmas bucket takes root in the culture. Essentially, Col. Sanders becomes the 13th apostle and Christmas is introduced to Japan by way of secret spices and the rest is history.

How did I do?

^Pretty close. The Japanese tradition of eating KFC on Christmas was due to a marketing campaign of somewhat nefarious origin initially by a single person. The manager of the first KFC restaurant in Japan confirmed in an NHK interview that eating fried chicken for Christmas was a common Western tradition- a total fabrication aimed at promoting the new business. Incredibly, the notion went viral (not easy back then), even becoming an official company marketing campaign.

The manager has since admitted his lie, saying he regrets it even though it was hugely responsible for the success of the chain in Japan.

I think Gwyneth Paltrow has a line of candles for this.

They had those KFC logs last year, no one bought them and they were on the clearance rack everywhere right after Christmas

So even though he helped the company, did they give him the "window seat" because he lied?

^No, the official company line from KFC Japan is that a visiting foreigner started the whole thing, even contradicting Mr. Okawara's confession. In fact, Okawara went on to run KFC Japan.
