New truck day
Bought my first ever truck. I’ve always been more of a sports car guy but since buying a real house (not a apartment in the city) I have really grown fond of the utility. I purchased an old Xterra late last summer and was really impressed with it. At 210k miles it’s still running strong. I recently returned my leased VW GTI daily driver and since I didn’t want to drive my Z4 every day I figured a truck was a good compromise.

Fast forward to today when I picked up this 2018 Nissan Frontier Midnight edition. It’s used but only a few months old with a mere 7k miles on the clock. I got it for about 10k off the original MSRP. I like that the Frontier is an honest truck...it hasn’t really changed since 2005 when it was released. It has a few updated tweaks like back up camera and heated seats but for the most part it’s unchanged. It’s a reliable truck with 260HP and 285ft lbs of torque out of it’s punchy 4L v6 (VQ40 engine.) I wish I could have gotten one in 6spd manual like my Xterra but they are only put into the 4cyl’s and top of the line Pro-4X models.

Anyways here she is....

My dad drove a Titan for many years. Nissan makes a solid truck for sure, and you can’t beat the VQ-series engines for reliability. The VQ35 in my last Altima ran over 335K miles with nothing but scheduled maintenance.

Enjoy it!

Nice. Nothing makes a guy happier than a new truck.

Great looking truck. We are in the market for a truck to replace our 2016 F150 with the lease ending. My wife and drove a 2017 Frontier SV yesterday. It has 31k miles and was nice enough but we liked a 2015 Toyota Tacoma more, this one had 68k miles. The Nissan seemed to have more road noise and less front leg room although the back seat had more. These used trucks sure seem to hold their value. Tomorrow we are going to look at a 2013 GMC Sierra with only 39k miles on it.

Dusty, I bought your trucks big brother 3 weeks ago. 2018 Nissan Titan XD. Nissan had 12k in rebates for the 18's

City MPG is killing me. Best ive got is 12.5 according to the trip computer. Kinda wishing I would have got the diesel instead.

I suppose next you'll be telling us that 2nd cousins don't count, eh? Big Grin

Nice truck, welcome to the club. I like the cargo bar thingy in the back, mine has no such addition so I make do with a milk crate and a couple bungee cords....

I like it. Very nice. Shame about the manual transmission though. That would've made it the cat's ass.

As a Nissan guy, I say: "Congratulations."

You should be well served by the Frontier. My brother ran his '08 Frontier for roughly 250K miles before trading.

As Rob said, the VQ engines are incredible. (Darn near 300K on mine.)

Nice choice.

God bless America.

Nice truck!

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Nice truck! My Wrangler was my first non-car and I have also enjoyed the the utility of such vehicles. Looks like we have similar taste in cars! This is what I was driving a few years ago.

Does this model year have the problem with the radiator breaking and ruining the transmission?
