My last golden retriever (best dog I ever had) had seizures. The first one happened when she was about 5 years old. She had a second one a couple of days later. Those two were the worst: flopping around on her back, urinating all over herself. After that they got more mild, and we got pretty good at seeing them coming. She would start having trouble walking, but if she could she would come stand by you and lean against you. We would hold her and talk gently to her and she would just stand or sit still and tremble while staring off into space for a couple of minutes. A half hour later she would be back to her old self. We never did put her on medication and were able to start relating it to her diet. We cut out the obvious triggers (my wife had been bad about slipping her human food) and they decreased to a few times a year. She lived without any real problems from the seizures until cancer took her when she was 11. I hope this helps in some way. ------------------------------ "They who would give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin "So this is how liberty dies; with thunderous applause." - Senator Amidala (Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith) | |||
