You must be pulling our collective leg. Tell me this is a joke.

In answer to your question, no, no one else else, anywhere, thinks that the jury was pro-Trump and that this is a brilliant scheme to aid the man.

Just you. In all of the Universe, you and you alone favor this theory.

It is your creation, your child, as it were. Suckle it it to your breast and protect it from harm, lest common sense devour it whole.

I'm an Attorney, and I've seen all the bad comments on lawyers here, some deserved, others ignorance.

But as I believe in the 2nd Amendment, I believe in our Judicial Branch.

I know that from what my wife has said of the Korean community, this took a lot of the fence sitters and planted them firmly on Trump’s side. There are a lot of Koreans who view this as the Democrats weaponizing the judicial system. This, as she said, is the beginning of (how one starts) a tyrannical government.
There are a lot of Koreans who are around the same age as my wife. She was never a Korean under Japanese rule, however her parents were (although they were children) and parents who lived through the Korean War. What they see happening now is causing a political shift for many. They are afraid to see history repeat itself.

Para, thank you for the goodnight wishes. It was quite nice to read last night.

In my opinion the law was contorted in three different ways. 1. The Statute of Limitations was altered. 2. They found a way to make a misdemeanor a felony. 3. Jury instructions were so undefined and odd. For example to charge Trump with 34 felonies they had to figure out what other felony he committed. There were three competing opinions in the jury room, but they were instructed by the judge they didn't have to agree on which one.

Claims of this case is Banana Republic and an example of a Stalin show trial are overwrought nonsense. Was the legal system abused in this case? I believe that it was, but the system is still in place, and take your pick on the grounds to overturn on appeal because you have a target-rich environment.

Strong disagree. I don’t trust the legal system at all. It’s like telling me I should still trust the CDC despite some abuses during C19, or I should still trust the FBI despite a few public cases of untoward behavior by a handful of agents. No, we are in a genuine crisis of our institutions and a crisis of legitimacy.

I too have faith that good will come in the end and wrongs will be corrected, but that faith comes from knowing God punishes the wicked not faith in our legal system.

Our legal system is a subjective, politicized mess. Exactly what happened to Trump here can happen anywhere, against anybody. The entire system is predicated on prosecutorial discretion and the abuses over the years are legion. It's a system too broken to really be fixed. To even survive, we better wake up. Red state prosecutors need to start indicting leftist PDQ.

What makes this a banana republic is not just that there was a rogue judge who enabled a prosecutor to railroad a case through. The problem is a large portion of the power structure that actively promoted this and several other such cases against their political opponent.

From the POTUS on down through one party they assisted the corruption. Prosecutors visiting the Biden White House in what can only be collusion. Powerful politicians championing all these cases.

That's banana republic territory.

It doesn't help that a good portion of the general population has been brainwashed into seeing all of this as a good thing regardless of the law. Ends justifying the means is now acceptable to almost half of our fellow citizens!

It's not like anyone was surprised, right? There was a glimmer of hope at least one person would have the backbone to stand up for what's right. But, it's only fodder for themselves.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

At the federal level, even basic knowledge of the law is no longer a required qualification. Heck, the latest justice cannot even define what a woman is, which indicates ideology is more important than a grasp of reality. Not sure how we recover.

^^^ To be fair, and I don't pretend to know what's in spunk639's head, I think you need to take his whole quote into account,

Just as we all believe in the 2nd Amendment ideally as written, unperturbed by gun grabbing commies with all their restrictions, we also believe in the Judicial Branch that is ideally should be free of activist judges and corrupt prosecutors. It is our job to fight back against forces that intend to destroy the founding principles of this country.

Anyone who really believes in our system, well, I'd refer them to the Sen. Kennedy's Greatest Hits thread. There are a few federal judge nominees in there. Scary stuff.

In case it's not clear, what I desire of and for the members of SIGforum, is to avoid overt displays of anger right now, and for us to bide our time and to allow events to play out, all the while maintaining a positive attitude which demonstrates a belief that the ship will right itself, and for each man to decide for himself how he is prepared to act in case all goes wrong.

It does us no good to stomp around and rage and make bold declarations. It's not pointless to do so. It's worse than pointless; it's counterproductive.

Don't misunderstand me- I am outraged at the way the leftists are behaving, but the watchword right now is patience. We shall see what we shall see, and then...

I fully believe the election was decided on Thursday. The left in their typical foolish manner massively over played their hand. DJT will be in office come January, and his VP will be an outsider too. He saw how the sausage was made in his first 4 years. Now he'll clean house like we've never seen before.

When I was young my Mom called me a pessimist . I didn't even know what the word meant . Now , I know that she was right . I really wish that I could " be patient " and wait for things to get better . I'm just so disgusted with what I've seen the last few years .

I think the left is truly afraid of DJT bringing a 20,000 watt Klieg light and shining it up their collective asses and exposing a great deal>
And after stimulating the public's appetite with their shenanigans, the public is going to go nuts over fresh meat.
