nhracecraftIn today's edition of Current Events in Argentina
This would appear to be good news from Argentina!
Nicky - Obviously it's a long road, but hopefully things are finally turning around in a meaningful way and headed in the right direction! Hang in there...And feel free to provide your own update/perspective on the current goings on in Argentina!

0-0Most basic common sense says NATO is out of the question. Geographically we are way south if the NA in NATO are meaningful. Second, you might want to ask the UK what do they think about the idea…
Haven’t heard a peep about the idea locally but it only makes me smile.
Things in general are changing. Too soon to tell. IMO, the worst case scenario is that the previous administration was headed fast into total chaos following its insane policies. They were aiming for a Venezuelan type totalitarism. They didn’t want the volatile situation to explode in their faces while holding power so what the new guy is basically doing is dealing with the discusting absess (spelling) he was handed. If he fails, they will. ome to the rescue and blame him for the past 30 years, as they did with Macri’s single term. Macri was no great administrator or politician and also had his hands full with what he received.
We all hope we can cope with the adjustments long enough to see the benefits.
We’re dealing with all this, it’s not easy but we hope for the best.
Fact remains you can’t trust this country for shit. We are not NATO material by any stretch of the imagination.

Argentinian mid-terms were today.
Here's the result, per WSJ: "Milei Wins Mandate for Free-Market Revolution in Argentina’s Election"
Hope this bodes well for Nicky and his fellow Argies.

Pipe SmokerI’m surprised that reasonably honest elections still occur there.
Very glad of it!

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/...734408&lctg=26773771Here's the Line From Javier Milei's Address to Argentina's Congress That Brought Down the House
Argentinian President Javier Milei addressed his nation’s congress, and it was rather Trumpian. There were fireworks, which is what you’d expect from a man who called progressives “s**t leftists” and campaigned with chainsaws on the stump. He’s also revived the nation’s economy, is getting inflation under control, and produced a full first-year budget surplus for the first time in over 10 years.
His speech spoke about lowering taxes and reforming the electoral system, but, like in our Congress, the Left wouldn’t clap. Milei took a page out of Trump’s book: he ripped into them incessantly. The line that caused bedlam in the chamber was when he said, “The left can't applaud me because their hands are in other people's pockets.”

I'm borrowing that line for awhile. It's as good as Margaret Thatcher's - "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."
