Yes, that is just a sprinkler line. Water that has been sitting in a black iron pipe for some time. Seen it many times during annual sprinkler inspections.

It doesn't excuse these jerkoffs' actions, but if you aren't used to tall vehicles, it's easy to forget there are sometimes low ceilings. The same with trailers - you've got to remember and account for their length at all times. I myself hit an apartment carport roof with a U-Haul.

I worked at a truck rental outfit a lifetime ago. We would literally tell the renters exactly where all the low bridges were in their destination vicinity - and we would still get 1-2 low bridge strikes every week.

Years ago I was a service manager for a fire protection company. One of the things I did were sprinkler inspections.
I had one customer that had a several story building. The parking was behind the building. The way to get to the parking lot was to drive through a pass through that went under the building.
The building was marked low clearance with the height. I even hung a PVC pipe with yellow stripes on it as a pre warning before you went under the building. It never failed at least two to three times a year a delivery truck would try to get through to the back parking lot and would rip out several sprinkler heads.

This incident deserves its own stand-alone post.

Nevertheless...

Some background and who this cool cucumber is who managed this situation.
Leo Prinsloo, the heroic cash van driver’s impressive profile

Cash-in-transit robbers beaten hands down by heroic retired cop cash van driver
quote:
Bulletproof windows, great driving skills and a very strong Toyota Landcruiser bakkie are the reason why two escort guards in an cash-in-transit vehicle survived a horrific attack last week.

The two were on the road when armed robbers opened fire on their cruiser which fortunately for them, was bulletproof.

A round, which appeared to be from an assault rifle, was aimed directly at the driver but it failed to penetrate the armoured escort vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, who was apparently in the police task force, was lauded for the way he handled the situation.

National Police spokesman, BrigadierVish Naidoo said: “On Thursday, 22 April, a group of men tried to rob a CIT vehicle on the N4 in Pretoria. The suspects fired several shots at the CIT vehicle in an attempt to stop it during a high speed chase.

“The driver of the CIT vehicle managed to evade the robbers for a while but later stopped in wait for the robbers. The robbers fled without taking any money. No arrests have yet been made.”

At the end of the video, the retired cop grabs the rifle from his comoanion and springs into action.

With his back against the wall and ready to exchange fire he waited for the robbers to catch up but seemingly his earlier resistance was enough to put them off.

They fled empty handed.

On social media, where the video has gone viral, some hoped he would get a movie role and others went far as comparing him to James Bond.

“Hollywood shows us actors, Real life shows us heroes.” wrote Robert Schultz.

Nelson Club commented “Chuck Norris, James Bond, John Wick and Jason Bourne all rolled into one actual living person…mad respect”

More dashcam video from the South African episode. The badass driver tried to run down the hijackers! He was on the offensive.
