Anybody know how to block calls to an apple watch?
My bride has an apple watch (series 3) that has its own phone number. She repeatedly gets calls to the watch number and dang if I can figure out how to block them. Internet searches have been fruitless.

She’s never given out the number for the watch to anyone, so the calls are either spoofed numbers or they’re from someone looking for the previous owner of her watch number.

My understanding is telemarketers have programs that can call many numbers and hour. They start with “0000,0001,0002,0003, etc”
They also spoof the caller ID to make it look local.
I’ve yet to find a way to block them.

I have an iPhone and considered the watch but never bought one. I was under the impression you must have an iphone to use the Apple Watch but when it's on cellular only (non-wifi) you can use the watch away from your phone just like a phone. The quick googling said that the watch doesn't have it's own number (but an account no) but does have an app that you can go into and make changes. This link / info might help: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250378714

Block people on Apple Watch
On your iPhone open the Apple Watch app.
Tap on My Watch.
Tap on Friends.
Tap on Blocked.
Tap on Block Contact. A list of contacts will appear and you can tap on the you want to add to your blocked list.

She has an iphone 7, with a different phone number. Her watch has its own stand alone phone number. Over the course of about an hour this evening, she had 3 calls to her watch number, ostensibly from the same caller. She’d like to block that number.

On my IPhone I go to “recent calls” touch the “i” icon, and at the bottom select “block this caller.”

We can block calls to her phone that way. We’re trying to figure out how to block calls made to the watch number. They have nothing to do with the iphone number. The calls to her watch don’t register on her phone-it has a different phone number.

I’m beginning to suspect there isn’t a way to do what we’re trying to do, which surprises me. This has to have come up before for someone.

Are you trying to block a specific number, or are you trying to block all calls?

I found a way to block calls from specified numbers, but have not found a way to block all calls.

Which cellular carrier are you using?

Have you looked in the watch all on the phone? Much of the configuration of the watch must be done from the phone.

I have found two different techniques.

One is for blocking incoming calls from a specific number.

If you want to block all incoming calls, I have not found a way to do that, but I have found a way to silence notification of an incoming call, both the ring and the haptic notification. This will not block the calls, but you will not be notified that you have a call, and it will go to voicemail if you have voicemail set up.

AT&T. We want specifically to block an individual number, although I suppose blocking all calls would be okay as well.

Or just go to Apple's forums and ask there?

Depending on your service provider I would call them to block a specific number.

I would contact Apple if you're still confused. I actually did technically get two Apple series 3 watches, one free and one for $50 that I sold NIB as part of a health insurance promo. As I was saying earlier, I did investigate actually using them. Down to the level of researching how they work and the cost. At the time I was told, and the web confirms this, that there is only one unique phone number for an Apple watch/iPhone. It's shared. She may be on the cellular network without the iPhone but the watch is still using the same number. You need a cellular plan but I don't believe that's an actual stand-alone number that can be dialed direct.

Apple's support docs on the subject:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207578

https://support.apple.com/guid...apd0443fb403/watchos

From the web:

'As you probably noticed during the setup process, your watch doesn't have its own phone number; it uses the same number as your iPhone. Any calls or messages you send when your watch is iPhone-less will use your number.' Sep 26, 2017

You should be able to log into your ATT account using the app and, bring up the number for the watch and block it there...

quote:
With AT&T Call Protect you can block calls from an unlimited amount of numbers for up to 30 days. If you want to continue to block those calls beyond that time, you can renew those numbers using the app. AT&T Call Protect will automatically block fraud calls and warn you about suspected spam calls.

OK, here you go. It looks like this method can be used to block any number(s) in your contact list. If the number that you are trying to block is not in your contact list, just add it before you do the procedure in the linked article.

I have a contact named "Miscreant," that has many numbers. Any time I get a call from a number that I want to block, I can add it to the list of numbers that belong to Miscreant. That dude has a lot of numbers!
