Grokipedia - a new opponent to Wikipedia
I have long considered Wikipedia to be very leftist in orientation and risky, at best, for unbiased information. Grokipedia, obviously in its infancy, should provide a good foil!

My own cursory experience has been good, although it has a ways to go before it will be user-friendly - please give it a try and report your opinion!

Is it all done by AI? Like Grok? Should I pose the question to Grok? Razz

At the end of the day it will be as left, neutral, or right as it’s owners.

Will be interesting if Grokepedia gets programmed to edit Wiki

I have found Wikipedia is an excellent source for technical subjects. I volunteer in an aircraft museum library and use Wiki to verify quite technical matters and find it is excellent. But immediately you veer into other matters, the political bias shows through.

You might be right. I compared the two on a non-controversial mathematical subject, and the Grokipedia response was identical (or nearly so) to the Wikipedia response. Whether Grok copied Wikipedia, or they drew from the same sources, I don't know.

I agree and, not to be overlooked, the formatting of Wikipedia is excellent. Easy to read, non-fatiguing, a standard of accessibility.

I know the bias and it's easy to ignore.

This is what Grok has to say about Grokipedia. Razz

quote:
Grokipedia is an AI-powered online encyclopedia developed by xAI, Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, launched on October 27, 2025, as a direct rival to Wikipedia. Positioned as a “truth-seeking” alternative, it aims to address what Musk and xAI describe as biases, propaganda, and inaccuracies in Wikipedia, particularly from what they call “far-left activists.” The platform uses the Grok language model to generate and edit entries, drawing from a mix of sources including Wikipedia (with many articles adapted or copied nearly verbatim at launch), real-time data from X (formerly Twitter), and other web content. As of launch, it features around 885,000 articles in a minimalist interface with a simple search bar, and it’s free, open-source, and accessible without usage limits for both humans and AI systems.

Key Features and How It Works

• AI Generation: Articles are created and maintained by Grok, which analyzes sources, classifies information as true/false/partially true, and injects context to combat perceived falsehoods. Unlike Wikipedia’s human volunteer editors, Grokipedia relies on algorithmic curation, making it faster and more dynamic but potentially prone to AI “hallucinations” (fabricated details).
• User Interaction: Direct edits aren’t allowed, but logged-in users can suggest corrections via a pop-up form for inaccuracies.
• Open Access: No ads, paywalls, or manipulation filters; it’s designed to be an “unbreakable” repository of unbiased facts, with a focus on transparency and real-time updates.

Background and Launch

The idea originated in September 2025 during a podcast discussion between Musk and David O. Sacks, who criticized Wikipedia’s biases and proposed an AI-driven “Grokipedia” as a knowledge base. Musk had long voiced frustrations with Wikipedia, including calls to defund it and rebrand it satirically. The beta (version 0.1) went live at grokipedia.com but faced initial crashes from high traffic. Musk delayed the rollout briefly to “purge out the propaganda,” aligning content more closely with his vision of neutrality.

This is correct. Groki draws from Wiki, in addition to other sources. See above.
