That is mostly the reason I moved to Arizona.

I got tired of the crap in NH after 25 years and also wanted to get rid of the idea of winter and snow.

That said, I also wanted to be in an area if the country where the cost of living was much less than NH, and where I could comfortably work until it was time to retire.

I think I hit Tucson at the right time. Real estate was cheap, although not at its low point, and the local economy was starting to turn around.

I wish I had the resources to have a summer place up in WY to escape the 2 months of really hot weather. Unless I win the lottery it ain’t gonna happen.

I didn’t know anyone or have any previous attachment to here. I flew in one night, looked around the next day and made the decision to come here. Don’t regret it at all.

I upped and moved to Phoenix from NoVA/DC in 2008. Best thing I ever did after marrying Mrs. Lee. Can't remember where I read it, but two of the keys to a happy life are living where you want to live and being married to the right person. If you knock those two out, the rest tends to take care of itself. I could live in other areas in AZ, but I don't see myself ever moving anywhere else. Once my folks in NJ are gone, I will never travel to the east coast again.

Probably the right move.

Have thought much about moving to Arizona, New Mexico, western Texas. Have considered Montana and Pacific Northwest (pre sjw, woke shot storm) as well. My main problem is employment. I have no useful skills I could take with me and understand there is not a lot of factory/manufacturing type work in these areas as that is where the majority of my work life has been. So, I stay where I am instead of living in the lower end of economic scale somewhere I'd rather be.

A Perpetual Disappointment...

That is a choice wolfe and i suppose there is more that goes into it than just that. Good paying small manufacturing jobs can be found through out the country though.
So do not let that be your excuse.
