casAmazon chuckle. I wish I had it on video.
Amazon truck pulls up at the end of the street, kid gets out and walks over to the mailbox/fence and checks the address. Stands there a while, then goes back to the truck.
After a bit he comes back out, goes back to the mailbox, then steps to the gate and drops the package over the fence into the yard. Gets in the truck and drives away.
Now the chuckle come in because there's no f@#king house!! They tore it down several months ago. There's nothing but sand and a big hole in the yard where the foundation used to be. Poor kid was confused. Must have known what he was doing was stupid, but that's what they're paying him to do.

whanson_wiI've known of several cases over the years where a person was still getting mail at a rural mailbox, even though the house was abandoned. I don't know of any where the house was actually *gone*, though.

OrgussAmazon deliveries have always been "leave package regardless." There have been quite a few times that I've delivered packages that were empty, damaged, or incorrectly addressed. Alternately, I once delivered to a house that had been gutted in preparation for remodel. As I was leaving, I mentioned to one of the construction guys that I'd never delivered to a house I could see through.
In this case, it's most likely the account holder didn't bother to update their address. In such an event, the account holder just needs to let Amazon know they need the package resent to the updated address, which Amazon will gladly do.

tatortoddThis is the 2nd time I've lived in a neighborhood in which every parallel street had the same street number (e.g. 7875). Every 2 or 3 months, I have to redeliver a package to one of the other two houses on parallel streets or vice versa.
Apparently, the driver gets confused which street they are on and drop it at the house number on the wrong street. I've had USPS, Amazon, UPS, and Doordash do it. Just last week, it was UPS dropping my stepmom's Christmas gift two blocks away.
Perhaps that is what is going on with the OP's Amazon driver.

casTook a look as I drove by today. Now there's two packages, both padded envelopes. One of them has clearly been cut open by someone.
