What have y’all found to be a reasonably priced rechargeable light with some good brightness? Size doesn’t matter; to spot chucacabras in the fields at the farm... Actually, if it’s heavy I can club them with it. Thanks, Dubya Sons of the Republic of Texas, NRA, TSRA God Bless America

Fenix RC20 will fill your need nicely. Be sure and get a picture of one when you find it. Jim ________________________ "If you can't be a good example, then you'll have to be a horrible warning" -Catherine Aird

I've got a lite box, rechargeable, durable, holds a charge. It's older and not an led. I love the thing. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Take a look at the Malkoff Hound Dog or Hound Dog Super lights.

There are a couple of ways brightness is measured. Lumens are a measure of the total light output of a flashlight. Candela are a measure of how bright the brightest part of the beam is. A 1,000 lumen lantern and a 1,000 lumen spotlight put the same total amount of light out, but a lantern spreads it over a wide area while a spotlight focuses it into a narrow beam. The light from the lantern will be pretty dim by the time it gets a wall 50 feet away, while the spotlight will put a small, intensely bright spot on the wall at the same distance. Flashlight people talk about "flood" (light over a wide area) and "throw" (light in a narrow beam), and sometimes "spot" (the bright area in the center of the beam) and "spill" (the less bright, wider area of the beam). Sometimes you will see flashlights specified as having a throw of a certain distance in meters. This comes from a standard way of measuring at what range a light puts a certain number of candela on a target. Just picking a light with the longest throw isn't necessarily what you want. There are some lights out there with insane throw numbers - lights that only put out a few hundred lumens (less total light output than most current generation pistol lights) and throw over 1,000 meters. That sounds great until you think about it (or actually get the light in your hands). The way they achieve those numbers is by focusing the beam down to a tiny, tiny area. For some things, that can be very useful, but it's a problem for most flashlight uses.

Thanks. I am looking at all of these. There are some seriously powerful lights you’ve listed. Bigguy, the bundle you listed looks like a great light and deal. It says $67.96 off right now. You think there is a different sale May 8? Edit: yes, I see available May 8 toward the bottom of the page. The Streamlight you listed looks good also. Be careful... Flashlight addiction is a serious malady akin to SIGness. There will be a more powerful model every year and sale every few months. I don’t actually know how many flashlights I own. All I know is you can never have too many flashlights

I bumbled my way into a hound dog super, bought a wildcat and wanted something brighter so they let me trade up to the super. It is really nice, just huge sustained output. The low setting is no slouch either and battery life is really good on 18650s. There are brighter lights out there but Malkoffs are the most practical IMO.

^^^^ The Wildcat has more of a flood pattern vs the Hound Dogs which are spots. I think they're great LE lights. The Wildcat is great at lighting up car interiors and rooms in buildings and the Hound Dogs excel at distance work. They're very well built with excellent reliability and the company's customer service is superb.

I have an o-light seeker pro & PL mini. Both have been excellent & the magnetic charging is great. I would not hesitate to buy another O-light. I have a bunch of Fenix lights too, but the are older - never had a problem with them either, but I think O-light has a slight edge in task-specific lights (spotlight, pistol light, etc) The P3Ds & L1D that I have (CR123 & AA) have been used, abused & keep on going.

Piggy backing on the Malkof lights...I replaced just the lamp for my police flashlight. It was so freaking bright!! And I could see a person with it at 200 yards away.it was totally with the money I spent on it. "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.” Robert A. I have a Fenix UC35 and it worked quite well as a spotlight when I had my Boat and forgot that 7 inch "million candlepower" spotlight I kept in the basement in the winter. BTW, sold the boat and that spotlight is still in the basement. Note, I am also a fan of Streamlight's products but feel that Fenix is tops for high output lights because they a fair bit more compact than Streamlight's HO lights. I've stopped counting.
