Raised Hands Surround Us Three Nails To Protect Us |
This marks year 3 in this house. 1st spring came the ants something fierce and every home remedy you folks provided sadly did nothing. Then a local member popped in and said quit wasting your time and just call company X. So I did and a couple days later not an ant to be found. Spring number 2 rolled around and ants with a vengeance so I called company X and within a couple days not an ant to be found. Well here we are year 3 and ants like crazy. Did I call company X? Nope, I called company Y the neighbors suggested. But also company Y sprayed our neighborhoods green space for mosquitoes free of charge. Thought that was pretty cool as it is where the neighbor hood summer movies and lots of activities for the kids are held. Figured I would toss a little business their way to say thanks. Well they came out in March ants were gone for a little bit, came back even worse in April so they came again, and now they are back even worse than the past 2 times. They came back the other day and the ants have yet to leave. While they "guarantee" their work the last 2 visits were not charged but they say if they come back they will have to charge again. Guess who will not be calling company Y again? ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

I can say the suggestions I receive here are much better than Google, and most of my male friends. They are often from experts in their respective professions. However, some of my female friends are better with suggestions on Relationship Issues. LOL

Try Spic and Span. Toxic chemicals will make you sick. Only a dollar at Dollar Tree. 41

Ants seem to be the topic of the moment. There was a wicked rain here this evening and I hope the rain washed away the scent-trail. Might try the Spic-n-Span. Ants? Quit paying people to spray, especially toxic chemicals when you have kids. Just get and properly use boric acid powder, aka Roach Powder. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Hot...HG-96023-1/203005193 It's safe around pets and kids, as they'd have to eat about a pound of it before it was dangerous to them. It binds with water, so it kills the ants by dehydrating them when they clean it off each other. They cannot develop and immunity to it. Best of all it works, VERY well, and will be a fraction of the cost of the ineffective spraying. ___________________________________________ "He was never hindered by any dogma, except the Constitution." - Ty Ross speaking of his grandfather General Barry Goldwater "War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen, and I say let us give them all they want." - William Tecumseh Sherman

Has this been tried on the imported fire ant? The only stuff that seems to work is a bait that they take back to the Queen.

Any soapy water kills the little beasties. I just mix a little dish detergent and water in a spray bottle. Instead of laying down toxic chems, you're actually cleaning your environment. I'm not sure why this works. I think there's a viscious spike in surface tension that quickly drowns the tiny insect.

Yes. If you use it properly the ants will take it back to the colony, and it will work on all of them, including the queen. http://homeguides.sfgate.com/b...fire-ants-82751.html ___________________________________________ "He was never hindered by any dogma, except the Constitution." - Ty Ross speaking of his grandfather General Barry Goldwater "War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen, and I say let us give them all they want." - William Tecumseh Sherman

Correct concept but the surface tension is how they live around water. Soap breaks that tension and they drown as a result of lack of it.

I have good success with a mixture of baking soda and powdered sugar. They take it back to feed everyone and they all die.

Terro is all I use. It takes a while to get them all, but once they bring it back to the queen, it is game over for the ants.

Buy some Termidore or the generic Taurus SC and spray the outside yourself. You can purchase it online.Spraying any chemical that ants can detect creates a phenomenon known as budding where the colony splits and develops many nests. You might kill a few but they scatter and pop up elsewhere. Use common sense, wear chemical proof gloves while mixing, and protective clothing while spraying. Keep the pets and kids away for a few hours. Use this product only outside. Diluting the right chemical and spraying is not magic, nor does it take a rocket scientist. _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it."
