I HATE the heat of Texas Summer and this year is brutal so far. I go by the heat index as that is the actual feels like. It has been close to 110 for far too long already and will be for the foreseeable future. Mowing the yard and doing other yard work yesterday really sucked! I had to take breaks every 20 minutes and drink special electrolyte drinks with how much I sweat and how long I was outside.

I remember my dad telling me how when he was young there were some nights when it was too hot to sleep. Even on the porch.

The hell with that.

I enjoy my 66 degree sleep temperature, thankyouverymuch.

58 here in the Yoop. Off and on showers all the weekend. Same for Monday.

It's two showers a day weather down here. That also means more laundry as I have been sweating through my undershirt and shirt.

There are positives however:
I am looking forward to peaches, watermelon, and field peas. Those are the treats I got at my Grandfather's farm growing up. He would let me pick a watermelon and just eat the heart out of it. The rest went to the cows or pigs.

One time, I climbed up a peach tree to pick some peaches and I ran into a snake. I forget which kind, but it was nonvenomous.

As for field peas, we would all gather on the porch in the shade and shell peas and tell stories. Field peas are so good. I don't grow my own, but if I see them at the farmer's market, I generally buy the lot.
