PHPaulMolasses Cake
Doesn't really qualify for the Food Porn thread in the gallery due to the pedestrian photography, but if this tastes anywhere near as good as it smells, it's gonna be outstanding.
Buddy on another forum posted the recipe, I just HAD to try it.
Molasses, brown sugar, raisins and various spices.

PHPaulAsk and ye shall receive:
1 1/2 c brown sugar packed
1/2 c Crisco
3 eggs (You could probably get away with two)
1/2 c dark molasses
3 c flour (not cake flour)
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Scant 1/2 tsp nutmeg
Scant 1/2 tsp ginger
Scant tsp cloves
1/4 tsp mace
Scant 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
2 1/2 c raisins (packed)
Put the 2 1/2 cups of raisins in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil and set aside.
Mix all of the ingredients together except the raisins and mix well.
Drain the liquid from the raisins and save (should have 1 1/2 cups liquid, add cold coffee if not enough liquid.)
Add raisin juice to the dry mixture and stir well.
Coat the raisins in a dusting of flour and stir into the mixture.
Grease a 9x9 cake pan and dust with flour.
Pour the mix into the pan and bake at 350 degrees for one hour or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Frost with cream cheese or a caramel frosting. (I did a butter frosting, but cream cheese would be yummy!)

Speaking of molasses cookies, here's a good recipe from Food52 that I've made several times.
Ginger-spiced Molasses Cookies:
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 large egg
1/2 cup unsulfured molasses
1/3 cup finely diced candied ginger (optional) granulated sugar for rolling
Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ground ginger, allspice, salt and cloves in a bowl and mix well.
Beat butter and sugar together in bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy, abt 3 minutes.
Add egg and molasses. Mix to combine well. Stir in dry ingredients. Stir in candied ginger if using.
Refrigerate batter 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 375 F.
Roll dough into 1 1/2" balls. Roll balls in granulated sugar. Arrange on baking sheets lined with parchment paper and gently flatten.
Bake in oven until set and crinkled on top, about 12 minutes. Don't over bake. Remove and cool. Makes 24.

Plain all-purpose flour, hence the baking soda AND baking powder.
