Nowadays, few to none will. (And there are about 1/3 of the number of gun shops and pawn shops as there were before too!)

The reason I've been given by several dealers is that they're concerned about/tired of being stuck in dubious possession of a firearm that was shipped in to them but they can't officially log into their bound books because the individual shipper didn't include their info and has since gone radio silent.

my ATF Inspector, when asked about this years ago, said,

save the shipping label and put it in the acquisition side,

or

put unknown if there is nothing to tell where it came from,


they are more worried about dispostion and it being on your books if in your inventory



as a FFL/SOT, I accept from individuals, w/o any major issues,


I realize that the ATF is like the IRS, as 10 people that works there a question, and you will get 11 answers

however there are a lot of dealers that are just flat out scared to death thinking they are going to be strung up during an inspection
