I have never hired an adjuster. It is usually a negotiation between the body shop and an adjuster at the insurance company. My body shop will call me and let me know the status. I then make the decision to go ahead.

Should I be hiring an adjuster? I thought the insurance company would do that?
IME, the insurance company assigns an adjuster who might be an employee or might be an independent contractor.

In my daughters car they had to replace the sheet metal floor that holds the spare time, it was lifted up. If you didn't remove the spare tire under the carpet flap you would have never noticed. That ended up costing USAA (them) about $7k.

Moral of the story, make sure you look at your inside cabin under carpet areas for new misalignments.

You are right on the money!

My wife told me last night the tray cover things didn’t fit anymore so I looked at it and took some pictures. I’m guessing $8k at this point, The there’s diminished value.

This is the flap thing that covers the spare. It’s supposed to be laying on top of the plastic ledge, but instead it’s all jammed up and I can’t lift it up.:

These are the tray cover things that are supposed to fit the recessed tray:

Another shot with the back edge of the center cover where it it supposed to be. The front edge by the third row seats is on top of the ledge it’s supposed to be flush with.:
