I am looking to get an outdoor cooking setup to deep fry fish and boil sweet corn in mass for freezing. Any thoughts on what to get? I am looking to get these 2 items to start with. I am thinking I can use this kettle for both. Camp Chef has a great reputation. I've had one of their Ranger III three-burner tabletop stoves for a few years. I haven't used it a whole lot, but it is very heavy-duty and a pleasure to cook on. For your purposes, the stove you linked would be better because of the higher burner output (30k BTU per burner vs 17k - both of which are a lot higher than common residential ranges), plus the convenience of the built-in stand. I can't comment on the quality of the stock pot, although I expect one inexpensive aluminum stockpot is much like another. One thing, check dimensions carefully - from a quick look, I don't know that you can fit two of those stockpots on that two-burner stove. The stockpot says it's 17" in diameter but the stove says 14" x 32" cooking area. With the windscreen on, I doubt they'd fit. You could always take the windscreen off and let the pots hang over the edges, though. | |||

Ah gotcha, sorry, didn't read carefully enough. I have a cheap single outdoor burner I use for that sort of thing which has been fine. If you're not planning on using both burners at once cooking other stuff and want to save some space, but still want the Camp Chef quality, they do make a single burner unit, too. https://www.campchef.com/cooki...-systems/pro-30.html They also make a simpler single burner unit in the style of the cheap outdoor propane burners (vent control on the burner, coarse flame adjustment at the regulator) that puts out 60k BTU. https://www.campchef.com/camp-...th-legs-60k-btu.html | |||

I picked up this Camp Chef 2-burner unit earlier this year: Camp Chef Yukon 2 Burner Outdoor Camping Stove Wal mart shows it out of stock, but I'm sure it's available elsewhere. We use CampChef as our Troop Stoves. If a bunch of scouts can't break them that should tell you something. If you look at this model it has high pressure burners and you can use it to fry a turkey. That is the next one I plan to buy. The Outdoorsman It has twice the BTU's of the normal stove. | |||

I have (and REALLY like) this 220,000 BTU single burner, with a welded stand: https://www.homebrewing.org/16...000-BTU-_p_9584.html This thing brings a LOT of water to a boil quickly, and when frying in a large vessel, it has the BTU output to bring the oil back up to temp right away, even when adding large amounts of cold food. Another thing to keep in mind is how stable the rig is, especially when topped with a huge pot full of boiling water or fryer oil and food. A partially full 60qt pot could quickly top 60#-70# | |||

We have the 2 burner at deer camp - works well - our only complaint is the height with the legs attached. It needs to be about 8" taller (at least) to comfortably cook at. For your use (taller pot) it likely won't be as much of an issue. I reject your reality and substitute my own. --Adam Savage, MythBusters | |||
