Run Silent Run Deep |
I was recently impacted by a data breach from a previous company. They are offering free enrollment for two years in this program for credit monitoring. Before I sign up, I thought I would ask if anyone has any input in this program or similar? Is it worth it? I don’t want to go into a program that then turns into longer issues with getting out of it or hard sell down the road. It offers: 3-Bureau Credit Monitoring Daily Experian Credit Report Internet Surveillance $1 Million Identity Theft Insurance* Identity Restoration _____________________________ Pledge allegiance or pack your bag! I like it but it’s free due to a past issue. It gives monthly updates on many subjects plus access to a credit report regularly.

No hard sell. About the time it expires there is another data breach and it never stops. It is legit.

I'm using it now due to a data breach of a company that works with CalPERS. The advantage is that the company IS one of the three data bureaus. The ones you see on TV are independent of it have to take extra steps to watch for you.

Zero downside in signing up for the free enrollment. IME, it was easy to leave when the free period ended. Ain't that the truth! If it's free, sure, why not? But other than the ID theft insurance, it probably is no different than what others offer and what you may already have. All my credit card accounts (Capital One, Amex and local credit union) show me credit reports and scores.

Sign up if you don’t mind endless emails from Experian. I guess you can opt out of those. _________________________ 2nd Amendment Defender The Second Amendment is not about hunting or sport shooting.

Yeah, free is good. With many things though, they offer ‘free’ then if you don’t cancel when the period ends you end up paying. They like it when the charge is lost in the credit card bill. I know it’s not exactly the same, but I’m more a fan of just ‘freezing’ one’s credit. It should be free to do so. Yes, you have to unfreeze at times, not a really big deal.

I got the Experian 2 year for free deal when Epik got hacked by anonymous (those slimy leftist whores). I didn’t have to give them a credit card so they didn’t automatically renew the service and the only email I got from them was the monthly “Nothing to report”.

Yep. I think I'm on my 3rd or 4th round of free credit monitoring. IdentityWorks is fairly unobtrusive. You'll get an email once a month, plus an immediate alert notifying you when new stuff pops up. Just understand that not everything is something to be concerned about. For example, if you update your address or phone number associated with a bank account, you'll get an alert. If you get a credit check for a car loan, you'll get an alert. Etc. It still requires you to examine it and determine if it's something normal or something fraudulent.
