That reminded me. I've walked this neighborhood for around 17 years on a daily basis and I've found 5 different 3/8" 10MM sockets.

Why in the world are they all 10MM?

Even in the world of handtools, 10mm RULES.

It was about 15 years ago. I was driving to work. I was felling frustrated with my job, my relationship, and life in general. I was waiting for the light on the freeway offramp by my work. I thought "God, if you think I should stick with it give me a sign". I looked over to my side and saw a 5 dollar bill by the side of the road. I got out and picked it up. I used it to buy lotto tickets. I lost. so I guess that's not what the big guy wanted me to do with the money. Maybe it was for gas money to get out of town.

At least for me, lots of stuff under the hood is 10mm. I'm sure a bunch of people have had them slip off the ratchet and fall under the engine compartment somewhere never to be seen again, until they get shaken loose and end up in the road.

Years of bicycle riding and running. Wallets, purses, credit cards, tools of all types, flashlight. Found a $3000 gas detector that had fallen off a truck. Took it to the city, county, etc. before a rural fire station said it belonged to the city FD. They got it back. Never got a thank you. Next time I'd keep it.

Bumping up a thread 1+ week old but it'll be worth it.

Found these two dudes on the side of the road November 2020:

I was driving to work, it was cold outside, listening to Eric Clapton's Unplugged soundtrack. It was during the song Lonely Stranger that I looked over onto the shoulder and the light one moved. We made eye contact, I know we did despite me going 60 mph, and I pulled over. Black one wasn't moving so I was afraid for the worst. Got up to them and they both moved, they were huddled together as it was cold, they were only 2-3' from traffic traveling 60+ mph. I scooped them up and brought them to the Tactical Operations Center (TOC) where I was working at the time. Facetimed my wife and showed her the puppies and told her to bring a couple of bowls and some dog food (we have 3 of our own). The Facetime made her move quicker Big Grin This was a Sunday, she gets up there and she's in the backroom of the TOC playing with them. My NCO calls attention and I'm not thinking the Brigade Commander, a Colonel O6 in the Army, would be coming in on Sunday but he sure did. And here I am with 2 puppies and my wife is there. He saw the puppies, I told him what happened and he played with them for 15 minutes and went about his day.

I wanted to keep the black one but with 3 dogs already, we were already at capacity. That and I really didn't want to go through the puppy phase again. I want to go through the puppy phase as much as I want to go through a newborn baby phase Roll Eyes

They were both adopted that same day and living good lives.

Yesterday I found a Snap-On ECARDO062O Dual-Sided Flex Light (Orange). It is a $168.50 rechargeable signal light - looks like a great camping light. It was run over and does not work so it may be worthless, but we'll see if it's exchangeable.

A while back I came across a Mac Tools bit driver with bits in a red clamshell box; they were scattered in a pile in the middle of the road; a utility truck had probably driven out with the box on its bumper; all were there except one #0 square. Very handy.

Just remembered I found a 12” pipe wrench in the middle of a field behind my house in Wilson. I was dirt bike riding and happened to stop and look down. Still have the wrench.

Once me and a K9 guy were out walking the hood about five in the morning just trying to stay awake. His dog was not a friendly German shepherd and never let anyone near his handler….dog is off leash and wandering in front of us….dog turns his head , sees me next to his human and runs back at us…I knew he was gonna bite me but he stops and opens his mouth with a cheap derringer on his tounge…the handler says, “he’s giving you a gift-take it” I removed the gun and sighed knowing I’d have to do another report…pretty weird. But his dog never growled at me or was sketchy around me after that.

I have noticed but never touched bags of human waste on the side of an interstate on-ramp near Kingman AZ.

I have a nice "Richmond Braves" Class AAA baseball team tie that was laying in the gutter.

I found a needlenose plier with that odd double hinge X shape. I found a Klein screwdriver, about 12 inches long.

I found a couple of tee shirts in the gutter. They were most likely from a fleeing felon as one was white and one was black, for quick reversal, worn as one shirt inside another.
