Told cops where to go for over 29 years…![]() |
We have Speed Queen threads, Waste King threads, Kuboto threads, and more. Having seen a few mentions on SF about the luxury of Bidets I thought maybe it was time for another household “appliance” thread. In addition to the occasional SF comments I have happened across, we have a friend as well as an adult son who swear there is no better throne than one with a warm welcoming seat, a warm water rinse, and blow dry. Costco currently has the Toto Washlet on sale for $299 ($100 off) in store and online (free shipping) until 11/15. After discussion with my wife and some online reviews for research and comparison, and loving a bargain, I figured now was the time to “shit or get off the pot” so I pulled the trigger and bought one. Had an electrician come out today who wired an outlet (GFCI of course) next to the throne for the princely sum of $125. Luckily there was an outlet in the bedroom sharing the wall with our bathroom so was pretty simple to tie into that. Once the electrician was done, I went to work and from box to test drive was a mere 45 minutes. First impression is that it is a pretty darn good idea and works well. Haven’t done the math yet to figure how long it will take to recoup the total outlay of $450ish with reduced TP usage. Of course, the extra water and electricity use may negate any actual “savings”, but even if I don’t save a penny I will do my business in comfort, style, and class! Feel free to pimp brands and models, share features, install experiences, etc. The Toto Washlet has wireless remote to adjust wand position, spray pattern, intensity, turn on warm air drying fan (about as effective as a hand blow dryer), and allows you to program four “personal memory settings” of your preferred setup. Install was pretty straight forward, remove old seat, install attachment bracket in it’s place. Slide unit onto bracket, locking in place. Turn off water supply, flush, remove water line to tank, install “T” to tank inlet, reattach water line, attach Bidet water line, turn water on. Plug in. Mount remote control holder to wall and your done (unless you want to read the 43 page user manual). So all mighty and knowing SF, what say the collective? What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

I was indifferent to any TP or water savings. Didn’t occur to me. I like the heated seat in winter, especially trips during sleep hours. TMI but the spray and dry are especially helpful during bouts of diarrhea or hemorrhoids or colonoscopy prep. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." Maybe a dumb question, but don't you still use TP to dry off?

Ours has a fan. Just sit there for 30-60 seconds after you rinse. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you.

I added very inexpensive bidets to my toilet seats (like $45 models). No heat or anything. I would not go without in the future. I just don't feel clean when I don't have one. Regarding the cleanliness, someone described it like this, "If you fall down outside and get shit on your arm, are you fine just wiping it off with paper and continuing on with your day." Regarding toilet paper, I actually probably use more. Now this may just be me being anal. But I don't want any poop being inadvertantly sprayed further away from it's originating location. So I wipe, spray, wipe to dry. As far as a fan drying you, that's probably fine but a wipe is always good to confirm the bidet has done it's job thoroughly. These go to eleven.

I used one at a friends house and will 100% be getting one. We are on septic and keeping paper out of the system seems like a good idea. I did do a safety wipe when I was done but that was just one wipe. The dude wipes are not going in my septic, I know they say they are safe but every plumber I know says not to use them. I also have several landlords I represent, and wipes are killing their plumbing in rental homes. Wife and I are planning to do a toilet swap and add a fancy one in a few months. __________________________

I've been looking. I was going to replace the entire toilet with a washlet built in but this looks like a great way to go for a test run. I'm also on septic so I like the idea of using less paper. NRA Life Member Steak: Rare. Coffee: Black. Bourbon: Neat.

Full video in case you've been living under a rock I don't have one but would like to try one. No amount of wiping gets your ... backside clean like a warm water rinse. There's a certain ... feeling of satisfaction after it.

Longtime Neo Luxe Bidet 185 owner here. Cold water only but I find it refreshing. No plumber required to install this under $50 dollar model. I love it, but if you guys wanna keep on scrubbing peanut butter out of a shag carpet, have at it.

911 Boss - We have three units and LOVE them. We only have two bathrooms in our house so allow me to explain We recently moved to a smaller house in a new town and my wife (64) and I (66) had two units in that house. Wife told me that she wanted at least one unit working in our new house within one week of moving (I do the unit installs myself). We decided to leave the two units at our old house because they were about four years old. I purchased a new unit while it was on sale at Home Depot and was ready to install it when we moved. When we received a contract on our old house the buyers asked that we install new standard toilet seats and remove the bidets, so I did. Both were still working so those units are now on the toilets in our new house and the NIB unit is in the top of the extra bedroom closet that will be installed when one of the two units quits working. Final comments on what we have learned. Buy a unit with a heated seat, night light, and one that heats the water. We started with a non electric unit and that one got replaced quickly. If you buy one with these features that unit will also allow you to control the water pressure and location of the pulsing water. Both of ours also have an ass dryer but we do not use that feature. We just grab three squares and dry off the area(s) as needed. IMO - Give it one week of use to make fine adjustments and I bet you will ask yourself why did I wait so long. My ass and my wife are both happy when it comes to managing this required activity and in our household this is important.

This might be kind of gross, but perhaps a user can enlighten the rest of us non-users: For the life of me, I don’t get how dirty poo water doesn’t run down your butt cheeks or your ball bag. Gravity works. And if it does (run down), why in the name of all things holy would I want to do that? Thank you…no. I’ll stick to wiping. Plus, I won’t have to wire an outlet next to the throne. I’d be happy to try one…once, to see if I’m wrong (not unusual), but I’m not going to spend several hundred bucks on one to find out. ________________________________________________________ It is long past time for a Convention of States. The Founding Fathers gave us this tool to fix an out of control government and we need to use it.

I just remodeled my bathroom and put a Toto toilet with the bidet function. This thing was the best decision I have made to date. Heated seat, dryer, wash for guys, wash for gals, night light, heated water, auto deodorizer fan, bowel pre-rinse, self cleaning, and more that I am still learning about in the manual. Oh yah, it has a remote with personal settings for up to 4 users. This should be on everyone's Christmas list. It's all about clean living. Just do the right thing, and karma will help with the rest.

Well, since my formative early years were related to the presence of an outdoor privy, I would say a bidet comes mighty close to "getting above my raising". I do have a question, though. What happens when you have an electrical outage? Does that mean a cold butt-wash water and no heated air?

We have one next to the toilet in the master bathroom. Never use it. Showers are for washing your butt.

Agreed and highly recommend. 2 years ago I installed a Toto K300 that has a tankless water heater (unlimited warm water). I really miss having access to one when we travel (those travel squirt bottles work in a pinch, but not the same experience
