Para and Forum members:

I just want to apologize here, I’ve realized that over the past week or so I’ve been violating the rules in the Mid Terms thread and others about being a doom and gloomer, several times now and attracting undo attention from the boss.

I’m going to refrain from posting in those areas for a while until I can calm down about all of this.

A long time ago an Army recruiter told me “Don’t be that guy that the Basic Training Drill Sergeant learns by name on day one!” He continued: “Be the guy that on graduation day he sees you and says ‘who are you?’”.

Thanks all and thanks Para

When you're amped up for too long, it's always a good idea to disengage and get back to being your normal self. Sometimes disengaging from a topic (e.g. politics) for a period of time is sufficient for the soul, but other times disengaging from the medium where you engage in the topic (e.g. internet gun forum) for a period of time is what's needed for the soul.

Hold your tongue and keep your powder dry.

I understand how you feel. But talk is cheap and it hasn't gotten us anywhere. Kari Lake has been the only one who came close to saying anything when she said, "Arizonans know bullshit when they see it." We need more like her at her level the same way Trump said something.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I think this bears repeating.

I've deleted more responses than I've made here for a while now. This isn't the only place I've been doing that. I'll be back on BP meds soon if I can't find an acceptable level of pissed off without the physical consequences of it.

Not gonna pile on here…that doesn’t seem like a good thing at all. What’s that old saying…?

“To err is human, to forgive is divine.”

We all mess up from time to time. What’s that other saying… I heard it from someone fairly notable on this forum a decade ago in real life. “There is only one perfect man and he lived 2000 years ago. You are not him.”

Good to hear from you. You completely misinterpreted the opinion piece on Biden which was satirical in nature. Then some else took your words out of context such that I looked like a idiot.

Gloom and doom is bad for your health, and I have plenty of that in my life.

Hope to see you back posting optimistic things.

I've done a lot more reading than posting in the 'hot topic' threads.

There is much wisdom here from people who have a great deal more life experience and knowledge than I do. I'm coming up on twenty years here, and a great deal of my opinions and insights have been formed here. Not only that, I've learned to be patient and wait for cooler, rational heads to comment before posting my meager $0.02.

Good on ya for realizing it's time to take a step back. Smile

Could be worse, you could be in Michigan. First time in 40 years the Dems control the Senate, theHouse and the Executive branches. And we still have Whitmer, Nessel and Benson at the top.

The day after the election I was in a funk but snapped out of it the following day. That’s life.

I feel ya man. The entire 5 alarm shit show that is the world on all fronts has really made me see little good and has really dragged me down. It’s one of the reasons I have posted much less across the board as of late. Everybody gets beaten down, everybody loses their shit…..it happens and you just Ranger up and move on.

Hang in there and always remember every cloud has a silver lightning bolt aimed right at you errrr something like that. Smile

PASig, this is why I have kept my mouth shut about the Arizona election. I either have a million words, or no words. At this time, I’m choosing four words. “Our border is fucked”.

I fully understand how you could come a bit unraveled over the election results in Pa. However as shovelhead said, it could be worse, you could be here in Michigan. I have not said much about the election results, because if I got started I wouldn't be able to stop.

Ive been wondering about the way of the world right now. The chaos feels as though it is really pressing in and my response is usually based in anger and it becomes stressful and depressing.

Trying to avoid voicing those opinions here is difficult. The Forum is full of like minded, rational, and often wise adults who don't mind reading and answering all of our opinions.

The Boss has asked the we refrain from the doom and gloom. So your apology is warranted and I respect you for offering it.

I've been reading and rereading a few books that are helping me take a longer view and giving me some hope, such as it is, for our future. Jordan Peterson's 12 Rules is one such book and rereading that has inspired me to take another look at Dostoyevsky's The Brothers Kazmarov.

I hope you find some peace PASig. I know we all could use some.

I'm reminded of an investing rule, may apply here too. So let's suppose you make a bad trade. For example, I bought some TGT yesterday before the earnings this morning. Hope was they'd report better like WMT and HD did. They didn't. Ugh. So there's a rule of thumb to not trade it for three days. Don't let the emotion govern your response. Chances are, it's an overreaction. Same is true of other emotional responses. I realize it's not always easy, so I commend you for recognizing it. But, if you chill, you won't likely overreact, increase your blood pressure or say something you may regret later.

Oh, and resist the urge to buy the day before earnings report! Wink
