We had our sometimes/mostly annual fishing trip to the Western Basin of Lake Erie this weekend.

On the way back from the marina, one of the guys asked if we could stop at Camp Perry?

Been by it hundreds of times, just never stopped.

My friend left with a really nice Springfield M1 for $800.

If you are ever in the area, I recommend stopping in. If you do, say Hi to Paul, he was pretty helpful.

Fishing trip was very good as well.

Friday, they had 8 footers. We fished Saturday and caught 24 Walleye and one Steelhead.

All in all, a pretty good weekend.

Sorry, waves.

They use to pull 8' Sturgeon from that area, but that was a century ago.

Glad you got to stop! I’m very fortunate that I’ve lived 10 minutes from Camp Perry my whole life, well my bank account may not agree with that statement but I enjoy stopping out from time to time. I’ve had several friends thru the years that worked for CMP and back 20 years ago it was quite the operation. The rifle matches are still great but the venders row has dropped off considerably from its hey day. It’s still worth a stop to check out the CMP regardless of rifle matches or not and just to drive out to check out the ranges.
